What would you like in a hiking back packing knife

This one along with it's twins is in the blade show batch, but I am trying to pull one more batch before then.

Dan,

That knife is absolutely beautiful. Nice job.

I sent you an email with some photos I took of your Sidekick on a backpacking/climbing trip I took last weekend. They're mostly shots I took with the knife at the peak of Mt. San Jacinto. I didn't have the chance to make any fuzz sticks with it on this trip; they don't allow us to build many fires here in California...

When I do, I'll shoot you some additional photos.

Dan - concerning the handle - although your knife is awesome in the hammer grip - I would consider thinning the handle toward the blade some - so that you can slide your fingers on to the blade for close up work.

I have always found that knives that flared out at the ricasso I had to take down some to make comfortable in a more wide variety of grips. Taper like the butt of the handle - or flare the butt, taper, then flare the palm swell - then taper toward the blade.

Also - aesthetically - the front pin looks a little small - or lonely up there by itself. Consider a wider pin - or more pins... I think it looks a little lost up there.

Further - a sub 4 inch blade on a backpacking knife would ensure it would be legal in most states.

Just my two pennies - I like the looks of this one though

Dan,
GREAT looking knife, and seems to really fit the bill for most of what folks asked for.
I will also agree with the above comments...I look forward to what the next batch looks like.
I hope I see them for sale soon enough so I can get one.
