What would you rather carry?

The Pioneer would be first choice.
Either of the Swiss Army Knives would work for me, and I really like the alox texture. The peanut is disqualified because it has no way to attach a lanyard cord.

If I could have only one of the three it would be the Spartan.

Can opener, bottle opener, corkscrew and a blade. Got it covered.

With that said, I always have my Vic. Waiter on me, so I would add the Peanut in that Case (pun intended).

Is this a trick question?

Every time I carry a SAK, I find myself wanting a dedicated knife. I'd rather have my knife and make do with the Sears' 4-way and P-38. I can't remember the last time I needed a awl. I've bored a hole ortwo with the peanut, but I'm careful to use the pen blade. On a 'nut, the pen blade is actually the stronger of the two blades. I keep the main clip just for clean slicing.

Carl.

Add a 1/4", wharncliffe instead of the clip blade, add .1 ounce and you have the mini copperhead.

So, of your choices, it would be the peanut.

Of the choices presented, I'd go with the Alox Pioneer if it were my only carry. In fact I have an Alox Electrician which I prefer over the Pioneer due to the small sheepsfoot blade in lieu of the can opener.

I lived with this Electrician as my only knife for 2 weeks while on a road trip and it endeared itself to me in many ways on that trip. The awl even came in handy.

There's NOTHING second rate about a Vic in Alox.

Here are a couple of comparisons with my Case Sm. Texas Jack:

I might even consider a Vic Cadet. :D

Peanuts are fun little knives but it's no extra burden to me to carry a longer one and I get more utility out something with multiple blades.

Thanks! I've been hearing references to it here for awhile, finally had to ask! :)

The nostalgia for these 4-way screwdrivers led me to pick one up the last time I was at Sears -- the thing I had forgotten, in the decade since I last had one on my keychain, is that they are the pokingest things you will ever meet. Like a little unfinished ninja star. After a week, those little tabs had found their way up under my fingernail on enough occasions of reaching into my pocket for my keys, that I once again relegated it to the Box o' Miscellany (you know, the one that every guy seems to have.)

As for the OP, I agree with everybody that the Peanut is the more interesting of the two. But in a one-must-do-all situation, I'd go for the versatility of the Pioneer (or better-yet, the Electrician -- swap that can opener out for a nice sheepsfoot secondary blade.)

I'm carrying my Cadet today -- it's Friday, and caps will need lifted. :D

The 4-way is a bit poky on the keyring, that's why it, and the P-38 ride in the zipper compartment of my wallet. They also go through airport security that way without a hitch.
as for bottle caps, there's too many ways to pop a cap to carry a dedicated opener. Bic lighter, spoon, house key, P-38...

Is that available with CV?

Mine is SS in the Ducks Unlimited model.

I use a wharncliffe for all kinds of delicate work.

On a knife this small, it is mainly having something in my pocket

or paired up with a larger main knife (the dreaded one-hand opener)

Wenger standard issue. Great edc knife. I find the peanut far too small for any food prep which is a major use for me
