What you can't STAND in your knives...

Construction screws the strip easily, RUST, bead blast finishes, flippers that don't work unless i flick my wrist like an idiot. If you're going to include a flipper, make it work.

I can't stand all these gorgeous knifes that I can't afford. It's driving me crazy coming on here every night drooling over all these Hinder, CRK's, Busse's, customs, the list goes on and on. But seriously, blade play sucks. I was attracted to SOG's designs when I first got into knifes, but every one I checked out had excessive blade play.( kinda like buying a new car with wobbly tires.) Benchmade was another that dissapointed me in this area, a $150 knife should have zero blade play. I am not trying to bash any company here. But blade play turns me off like a fat ugly chick.

I dislike how many knives are labeled as tactical. Just stop.
Some other term will just piss you off instead.
Tactical.
Survival.
Hard Use.
Bushcraft.
Camptastical (I think I may be the first to use that one...remember, you saw it here first.;))

Terms don't bother me, as I can always call it something else if I care to.:)

Aluminum. Ick. Gimme ti or G10 or Zytel or FRN-something or even natural materials. But please, save all of the CNC'd aluminum for AR quad rails.

In a folder I detest side to side play, period.I don't like fixed blades that come with no sheath.I can and do sharpen my knives, but hate it when they arrive dull.

When the tip hits inside the handle to stop blade closure instead of the "kick" at the heel hitting to stop it. Sometimes found on otherwise very nice knives.

Anything that weighs more than 4 oz.
Absurdly stiff pulls on slipjoints (think GEC).
Butterknife factory edges.
Wacko screws that need special and expensive tools (think Microtech).
ALL pocket clips, don't care who makes them.
American companies making stuff in China ( too many guilty names to list).

I can't stand short handles. Folding knives where only one side of the handle has a scale. Hunting knives that are all black, what an intelligent design that was and even dumber on my part for buying one. An all black stiff as a board fillet knife like my Microtech black marlin that came with a sheath that actually dulls the blade everytime you pull the knife out or put it back in. I guess with that fillet knife I'm suppose to go commando the next time I go salmon fishing. I'll dive in the water and sneak up one and slice it's gills.

No love for blade play huh :p

The way I interpret your question, you're askin' in my knives, the ones I own, What I can't STAND in my knives... ?

I can't think of anything, if I couldn't stand it I wouldn't keep it, so my answer would be...nothin'.

I think planterz had the right idea :)

1. Things that are sharp that aren't the blade.
Reminds me that every time I buy a Spyderco, I sand the edges of the thumb hole a bit because I think it could probably cut me if I tried hard enough.

2. Blocky, square handles
Screw the Buck 110, I said it

3. Cheesiness factors
Random laser etchings and things that seem out of place on knives.
TACTICAL FOLDER XCORE MILITARY FUSION KNIFE
*etching of a Nord riding a unicorn while fighting a dragon*

Speaking of text on blade, it's kind of like those cheap market clothes with something stupid written all over it for the sake of it.

Bad sheaths on pricy knives if the knife is such good quality then so should the sheath

You owe me a new keyboard.

Short and partially serrated blade
Really agressive serrations that bind instead of saw.
Weak detents (Ouch, dammit!!)
Chisel grinds on anything other then a serrated or partially serrated blade.

A pocket clip that is very large in size or causes the knife to ride too high and not be easily concealed.
