Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Well, since it's a "Whatcha got on order" thread I suppose I should post again. :) After seeing the quality of the GEC knives that arrived today I went ahead and ordered a couple more. I ordered a Calf Roper Jack and a Calf Roper slim. Basically a jack knife and a pen knife.

My CS Smatchet arrived today. I like the "short sword." It can be wielded rather easily and with a little work on a sharpening steel, it makes for a formidable weapon. With a little practice, I can make the neighborhood just a wee bit safer. (At least I can be quite a bit safer!) ;)

If i were able post a picture I would have done so by now. I would recommend buying one from a vendor on e-bay. (At the lowest cost with free shipping.)

As far as your home made handle is concerned, I'm not certain how you could do that. Putting skateboard tape on the handle would likely be your best bet. (And it would prove more cost effective as well.)

I forgot to mention that I just ordered two (2) Cold Steel 80PGTK GI Tanto 7 Carbon knives today. One I'll be selling to the housemate that keeps breaking the tip (s) of his work knives, and one for my own collection. With 4mm thick 1055 Carbon Steel and 7" of tanto blade, this tough knife should prove nearly indestructable while he puts the knife through it's paces.

Not a bad Idea, eh?

Sorry cap you have misunderstood what I was saying . I wasn't on about a home made handle the traditional smachet comes with one . that's the one I am thinking of getting :) .

Thanks to all of you enablers, Smithhammer, Rachel, Pertinux, and others for steering me toward a couple small fixed blades, something that is strange territory for me. :o:grumpy::grumpy:

I borrowed the pictures from the dealer until my knives actually arrive. ;):D

I had my eye on these Humphrey knives for a good while now. Guess I need to shop for some old rusty license plates too.

Woah! Very nice, Primble! I've had my eye on those too. I've managed to resist so far but I'm beginning to doubt my resolve.

Thank you Gary. Resolve is very tough around this place.

It usually turns into dissolve for me. ;):D

I have two coming, both in buffalo horn. A Queen 48 whittler and a Canal Street swell center jack knife.

Soon I'll be whistling the tune of the GEC #82. I missed the Dixie stock knives when they were released. It's an interesting pattern that's somewhat similar to the large Moore Maker stock knife but a little thinner and with an uncommon pair of secondary blades shapes. If there were SFOs of these knives, please message me with the details. I ordered the Osage Orange with the hot dog shield but I think the knives would look great with jigged bone and a crest... or maybe plain slanted bolsters and Charlie's diamond shield.

I have been thinking about one of those as well. I know a company that's selling them for about $90.00. The only reservations I have concerning this particular model, is that the blade is manufactured in Pakistan. (This nation is noted for it's poor quality of materials and tempering.) I used to refer to it as "junque." (That's fancy junk!) :p:rolleyes:
