Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Bought an interesting cattle knife from the Exchange. It's a Dan Burke design made by Queen (top knife in the photo). All stainless construction and the blade steel is BG-42. BG-42 is uncommon on a traditional knife. So I thought I'd give it a try. Looking forward to it.

BG-42 is gonna be a nice one on that Queen Jake. One of my favourite steels that isn't used anymore. That and the only good traditional it's ever really been used on is the Queen variety.

Buck has used BG-42 in the past.
I have a Buck 301 in BG-42.
Before PM alloys came on the scene, BG-42 was considered top of the line for edge retention.

I just placed my first custom order! :D It was for a Mario Leao (BF knifemaker member MLL Knives) fixed blade in his Kakapo style: N690 stainless Wharncliffe blade; a three-layer handle with orange liners, a Yellowheart center, and a waved Cherry outer layer; and brass pins. It looks like it will be a marvelous hiking and camping companion.

Despite not existing yet, this knife feels right to me. I've learned to trust that feeling. The second I saw a similar one he'd posted, with the dual-wood handle in this warm, sunset-like combination, it "spoke" to me, and I knew I'd be ordering one. Now begins...the waiting!

Collector Knives had a full size Case sodbuster in yellow Delrin and CV.
I had $25.
We swapped.

Totally forgot about Buck Frank, my statement rescinded. I had in mind that Case Slimlock in BG-42

Patiently waiting for my JBF Esynx Essentials :D

Congrats on your first custom order Dadpool~

I suddenly have nothing on order. I'm destitute and without direction. I need to rethink my life.

Thank you, guys. So far I'm loving the steel. It takes a nice edge but I haven't had the knife long enough to appreciate its edge retention. I would end up liking a steel that's not offered very frequently! LOL

A #77 old tan sawcut bone with a single sheepsfoot blade.
Getting my fill of Sheepsfoot .... For now. ;)

I have reason to believe a 77 Single is on its way  A rare bird in Europe anyway!

The Exchange has yielded a Schatt Swell Centre in Wormgroove bone too, excited about these different Spear bladed knives en route.

Thanks, Will

My wife reminded that my birthday is this weekend -I'll be 51 so not that fussed and too much work related chaos going on in my head so I'd sort of forgotten about it.
She asked if I wanted anything and like a true dedicated knife head I replied
"A blood red ranch hand please".
I had to send her a link by text because I think she may have been worried.:D
So thats 2 of my favourite things rolled into one-blood red jigged bone and the #74 Ranch Hand.
Do I feel Lucky?
Yes. I do.

I tried the Arno Bernard Bush Baby Dassie at 5" and it was just a tad to small for my liking. Ever since I sold them off Ive wanted another Arno Bernard. I have these 2 on the way. Thanks Mike and Collectorknives!
