Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Traded a 15 Crown Lifter that was just collecting dust, for this Bobby Toole custom Trapper, hopefully this will get more use. This will be my first custom so I’m hoping for at good experience.

I had the same knife once with the lemon/lime bone covers with a lefty-configuration because I’m a southpaw. I found out my hands are used to the righty-configuration so it felt completely wrong opening it.

Also the blade was very thick behind the edge. My theory is that they grind their lambsfoot down from their “Farmer”-blade shape, thus resulting in a thicker edge on the lambsfoot. Does any of you guys have any theories or experiences about that? Would be very interested to hear, because it’s kinda holding me back from ordering another Lamb, hoping mine was a fluke.

I have found the newer blades of A.Wright to be lacking in quality. I have gone to buying older examples of their work or custom makers.

Yeah, thats what i thought. I’m still waiting for my Michael May Barlow (been 4 weeks) and if that looks good I’m gonna try and order one from him, though I’ve heard he gets his blades from A Wright. Might not be the case regarding the Damascus blades, we’ll see.

I just bit on a patriotic sale from a non-member dealer.
OKC fish and small game, and OKC hunting knife.
Silly to get the hunting (cabbage) knife, since I already have one, but I don't have the sheath.

[Edited for deal-spotting. Suffice it to say I blew it $10 worth.]

screened porch screened porch Your original post said llamaland… what does that mean?

My google searches showed me

Lammas Land is a popular park in southwest Cambridge, about half a mile from the city centre. It is bordered by Fen Causeway and Newnham Road.

The park has a pool, a large play area for children of all ages. We keep the grass short in various areas, making it an ideal spot for a picnic.

Sorry, it's a reference to a Monty Python sketch in which we learn that the llama is a quadruped that lives in large rivers like the Amazon. I should just say the jungle river site.

I've been wanting a Buck 683 Selkirk, but not $75 worth.
I have one coming from the auction site, slightly used and missing the firestarter, for rather less than that.

I've got this gem on order. 1970s Buck 112. It's gonna be a good time getting it back in shape. Not gonna send it to Buck for a spa treatment as, they will want to put a new blade in it and that would destroy the character of the knife. Plus, it's a no nail nick blade. Gotta keep it as is.
This will be fun.
