you mentioned you like blind horse, and you own a blind horse right? is there a reason why you liked one over the other company, bark river?

Ah, gotcha. Actually, I own a number of Bark River knives as well, and I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. Both companies make great knives, but this particular model that BHK came out with (the Clipper) is one that I've wanted for a long time, and Bark River doesn't currently make anything quite like it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another knife from either, though.

ok thanks for the feedback. i'm just browsing the companies offerings and i like what i see from both of them. it's a tough choice.

I don't think you could go wrong either way - it's just a matter of what particular model, steel, etc. you're looking for. Bark River has a more extensive catalog, and their dealers tend to have more stock on hand. Blind Horse has a few dealers that have some stock, but other than that you'd be placing a custom order. Worth the wait, though...

I just got the email that my Joel Chamblin Hiker pattern is on the way. Really excited for this one--Joel builds knives that I always assumed were way out of my price range, so to have the chance for a shadow pattern custom from such a master knife maker (and nice guy) is great! I can't wait to have it in hand.

Cheers!

good luck with your purchase. i just saw he has a peanut for sale previously owned for $550. no way in hell i could ever spend that kind of money on a knife. :D

Me neither--way out of my budget, but that indicates the quality of knives he makes. The shadow hiker pattern is affordable by comparison, and I can't wait to receive it. If you are curious about what they look like, there's one listed for sale on the Traditional sales forum. The difference is that I got to choose the scales and liner, and I also picked CPM 154 for the steel.
