Whatcha got on order? (Traditional Knives Only)

Looks like I might have a very nice month of December.

Mike Alsdorf Equal End pattern, something from Ken Coats, and our forum knife. All due right around the same time. Nothing in the works until then but December should be a great month.

Thanks to this forum in the last month I've picked up a case peanut, case gent's swayback jack, and now have a yeller cv medium stockman on it's way.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

Nice one, Elliot. You beat me to it but I have an ebony GEC conductor on the way from the Traditional subforum in the Exchange.

Also bought a vintage Primble coke bottle (??) with some nice stag handles.

Nice snag, E.

Nice one, Elliot. You beat me to it...

Thanks, Jeff and Jake. I haven't yet found this particular version of the pattern from 1970 in stag in my books thus far.

That said, it's a pretty cool knife that would be nice to sharpen up and carry from the looks of it and that's exactly what I plan to do.

87 pattern?

You know, I never thought of that...Rob does like smaller knives and I just immediately thought of the 47's...(Can you hear the head slap from where you are?)

You're right...looks to be a 53087 PE

I've got a knife from Joel Chamblin on the way; an elephant toe or sunfish where the smaller drop point blade
has been swapped out with a wharnie. It's one of my favorite patterns but I couldn't see the utility in have
two blades with the same profile in the same knife... I'm new to traditional blades - is this considered a faux pas
(deviating from the "Traditional" blade pattern)?

Congrats on your choice of Joel Chamblin. He's not only an excellent maker but a great guy as well.

The beauty of "custom" knives is that they are made to your specs, wants and desires. If you wanted him to build one to the specs of a particular production knife he could and would certainly do so but you did not do yourself any kind of disservice by having the knife built with the blades you wanted.

Be sure to share it with us here on the forum after it arrives.

I just placed an order from on 4 Schrade/Gec made trappers (one large, three small). I figured I would get one big and one small for me, and one small for each of my boys. It might be a bit early (one is 6, and the other is 18 months......might be a while till he gets his).

I've got a Northwoods Mini Moose on order.
3.25" Closed
ATS-34 Steel
Convex Ground Blades--ground and sharpened by Bark River Knives
Both Blades operate on a single backspring

A couple of GECs will be arriving/ordered soon to increase my #48 Trapper collection and I'll probably pick up 1 or 2 of the new single blade #23s as well.

I have a Condor Hudson Bay camp knife coming. My plan is to strip the coating and force a patina so it looks even more like an old trade knife.

I have one and I did the same thing. I bought another for my dad.

They actually changed the design, and now you can get one without coating, and a rougher forge finish on the knife.

I did a bit of edge work on mine, and use it in the kitchen all the time!

I just put in my first order for some Case knifes, a Small Texas Jack in Amber Bone CV, Peanut, Chestnut Bone CV, Sway Back Jack, Chestnut Bone CV.
So far I have a bunch of modern folders and Swiss Army knifes as well as some traditionals Bucks 314, 307 and a few Rough Riders, Opinels, Douk-Douk, Mercator.
I am interested to see if the Crome Vanadium steel and the designs are as good as I hope.

Just ordered a Case Ducks Unlimited Mini Copperhead. Comes with a brass shield and Rogers Jigged Brown Bone handles. Patiently () awaiting its arrival. ;)
