Unfortunately that is not happeningAccording to the exchange rules, the words "net to me" are not acceptable. When I list a price, I list all acceptable payment methods (ppff/zelle/venmo/cashapp) and shipping and insurance is already built in. If a buyer has a special need to use G&S, we would handle through PM's.
Sellers/Selling -
- Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the TOTALselling price.
- There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".
- "Net to me" needs to be figured into your LISTED PRICE
So report it.Unfortunately that is not happening
Just making conversation, not looking to be a rat.So report it.That’s what the report function is for.
You have to have the final cost to the buyer posted in whatever payment format I believe. Typically when people post “net” or “net to me”, there is math involved on the buyer end. The intent is that sellers post the exact price that buyers are meant to pay. No shipping added, no tax, no fees, no “net to me”.
Example: “$100 f&f, or $103 g&s”
You’re complaining about something openly in the GBU (which likely hundreds of people are subscribed to), and made a remark about how people aren’t following the rules. I’d say if you wanted to be more clandestine about keeping people in line, you’d just report it so a mod could address it behind the scenes. Reporting is a tool for moderators to be made known of a concern, not necessarily the impetus for punitive action.Just making conversation, not looking to be a rat.
I would rather do the math as the buyer.
The posts that say $100 FF or $130 G&S crack me up.
That's an excellent perspective. We're planning on moving to Kyrgyzstan later this year...I'll keep that in mind.I live in Kyrgyzstan, where the government intercepts all online money transfers originating internationally and institutes a 90% value added tax. So when a buyer sends me $1,000 for a knife I only receive $100. I always inform the buyer after the fact that I'm due an additional $900 (net to me), and that I won't ship the knife until I receive it. Either that or I just say "send me more money plz." I figure it's the buyer's responsibility to know my country's laws and regulations governing international money transfers.
Well, you've made your point, and I thank you for it.Blues it's annoying that they disabled the "like" button in The Knife Exchange forum because I want to LIKE your post!
The Kyrgystan navy is looking for recruits. That's an excellent perspective. We're planning on moving to Kyrgyzstan later this year...I'll keep that in mind.
I've gotten most of my financial acumen from Chico Marx up until now...
One of those rare countries where "able" seaman has no relevance. The Kyrgyzstan navy is looking for recruits.![]()
For everyone other than Blues, Kyrgyzstan is landlocked and thus has no navy. One of those rare countries where "able" seaman has no relevance.
Got that from contextFor everyone other than Blues, Kyrgyzstan is landlocked and thus has no navy.![]()
I would rather do the math as the buyer.

Unless everyone got their knives for free... No one is paying taxes on this stuffOf course, brancron 's point aside, this is very clearly a spot of social engineering. "Please use PPFF, or else I'm sharing the pain I'm going to feel come tax time." I get it, it's lame, but I get it.
