Whats everyone's favorite autoloading handgun?

A Whitney Lightning. Wow. That company would still be around if they hadn't decided to impose the same design on a .30 carbine round. [Called the Wolverine.] Very few of either design around, but their .22 was sleek and modern for the time. How's it shoot?

Haven't bought it yet. Just handled it. It points very well. Its going for $200, good condition. Just haven't plunked the coin down. (Hope it isn't gone, going to check this weekend)

The Whitney Wolverine and the Whitney Lightning were both .22 caliber. The name Wolverine was dropped do to a trademark infringement with another company The gun was well made and shot well but at the same time Ruger introduced to Standard Model at a lower price. Add in the distribution problem the company had and the futuristic Whitney was doomed. It's designer, Robert Hillberg, went on to work for High Standard.

Currently the pistol is being produced by Olympic Arms and is priced under $300.00, I have seen them priced as low as $260.00.

Yes but they have a vent rib and a plastic polymer body. Doesn't look half as sleek. Samson was going to make one also. The one I'm thinking of buying is an original with the alloy frame.

I understood that you were looking at an original, and I know how the new versions are being made, I was merely correcting some disinformation that was posted and point out the fact they are being made again.

My favorite, Wilson Combat cqb compact. Unfortunately, I don't own one........ :grumpy:

EDC for nearly 15 years has been a Kahr K9, so I guess that's a close 2d.

A little big for my belt, but it'll fit in my pack! :D

i have a mk I that i redone years ago at my friends store when he had his tanks going. i also made a few modifications too. i eliminated all the overtravel in the trigger, added a williams adjustable sight and made a removeable compensator. anyone wanting instructions on how to eliminate the overtravel can send me an email and i'll send pictures and instructions on how its done. http://mysite.verizon.net/reswhz6f/id22.html

There are two kinds of pistols; 1911s and everything else. :D

i just found out the frame of a ruger mk I or II pistol can be shipped through the mail as long as the barrel isnt attached. anyone wanting the mk I trigger mod done can ship the frame only to me. (if a serial number ISNT on a part it can be shipped by anyone. if a part has a serial number it has to be shipped through someone with an ffl license).

Kimber 1911's , Colt 1911's and Glocks. I mostly carry a Kimber Stainless II, and Glock 30.

Medical necessitis forced me to sell my H&Ks, I had the socom, usp45 elite, tactical, compact, and 9mm elite. I held on to the p7m8 until last. The p7 was my favorite of that bunch. I now have a beretta px4 storm in 9mm.... 3 magazines with 17 rounds, and the mechanism lets me re-acquire target much faster than any other pistol I've used.
