Finally got er dun. Balances right at the ricasso. I had a styrofoam cup with and lid and straw out there at the shop that was trash. I filled it with water. Set it on my trailer and chopped at it. It cut it in half leaving the bottom half and the part of the straw floating in it. I then chopped at a young cottonwood tree that I had cut down. I cut through it and then proceeded to delimb it with single strokes. After all that, it was still shave sharp.
Will give it to the customer this weekend.

Steak knife just finished up. If you didn't know, Harbor Freight buckets suck. Literally

Been a busy month so far.
Biggest thing is I got cataract surgery on both eyes. The difference is amazing. Now, I don't wear glasses unless I'm trying to read really small print. I needed lots of extra light to do work ... now everything is bright and colors are correct. I highly recommend the surgery to anyone with even mild cataracts.

Got Ron Frazier's old sword forge cleaned up and painted. Put it by the forge door with an old Buffalo Forge blower next to it.

I got the old plows from the farm and other farmacana yard decor all moved around and the yard ready for the summer's parties and BBQs.

In the shop I finished my "wild woodsman" birdhouse and mounted it over the pond. It is made from cedar. The pump house behind the pond is made to look like an abandoned and dilapidated miners shack.

I built a new axe lane by the new forge. It has a raised Trex deck topped with 3/4" thick horse stall mats. The target is 4X8 feet with end-grain blocks. It closes up and looks like the picket fence around the yard and garden shed at the end of the forge. Open it becomes a stop for any wild throws, but I doubt anyone could throw that far left. While I was working on the axe lane, an enormous pileated woodpecker started drilling on a large branch right over my head.

I was taking a break yesterday to cool off in the AC of the clean shop and decided to carve a sperm whale's tooth into an eagle's head. Got it about 75% done in an hour. I'll post photos of it later after finishing it.

More to come on a bar0tch of swords and kitchen knives I set up.
