Yes, I couldn't seem to get it into focus. Oh well, like I said, hopefully I can do better when it's finished. This one is going to be quite elegant (if I do say so myself). I've already dubbed it the "Gent's EDC". I think Stacy would be quite proud of me with this one. It should cut and slice like a laser.

Aaron, you asked about smooth panning on videos, and I read a great tip on a dyi movie making forum a while back and thought I'd share. Use a rubber band. Simple solution to a complex problem. Take a rubber band, hook it around your finger and the handle of your tripod. Adjust the tension on your tripod so that when you start to pull on the rubber band the camera starts to swing before you reach full tension. Stop moving your finger slightly before you want your pan to stop. Practice a little and it gets really easy to get nice smooth pan shots. I hope I was clear enough with this, and maybe it'll help someone out a bit!

OK. Managed to get some "slightly" better pics.

Here is the outcome of my rotary platen work. It is hard to notice from batch one but I think I like the outcome. If you look at the top knife, it was done in the first batch, but the bottom two were done in the second batch and the blades where flat ground and then I used the rotary platen to convex the edges. Its funny how I can make my work area all white and clean with the light box compared to what it actually looks like... it looks like gremlins trashed it when I do sheaths...

Nothing nearly as nice as some of the other stuff posted but here is what I am working on at the moment.

Another small batch of paring knives in 15n20. They are currently heat treated(pre HT in photo) and are awaiting the grinder.

I too have convinced myself to try something "tacti-cool". Not nearly as nice as Ians recent ones but I am happy with them.
1080 from Cupples, with a forced vinegar patina and stone wash. I'm still struggling with getting an even patina.

It's kind of rednecked, but here is what I used for the stone wash. I converted an old craftsman lathe into a make shift tumbler. I swapped out the top pulley to slow it down. It was still to fast to chuck the barrel up directly so I had to use it as a drive roller.

I just did a rough polish and etch to check the pattern.
I'm planning on using it for a guard.

Just a couple that are still WIPs.

The biggun' is one of the first things I ever forged, so it is rough, really rough. However, I still want to finish it just so I can say I did. It was a piece of rusty, pitted leaf spring (I know, I know, that was before I knew better). The would-be scales are cherry scraps and it'll have black liners. Yes, those are 1/2" stainless pins/rods. My dad works for a barge company that is doing some repairs/retrofitting on their barges, one of his coworkers grabbed two 1/2"x~10" stainless rods for me and said he could get more. I'm guessing they are a 300 series as they are non-magnetic, but, unfortunately, I can't say for sure. I still have a ways to go on this one, it's not even HT'ed yet.

The smaller one is 5.5"OAL with a 1.625" blade, just for a size reference. It is 1084 heated to non-magnetic, quenched in canola oil, and tempered at 400 for one hour, two times. It has cherry scales, lime green liners, one 3/16" and one 1/4" brass pin. This was my first attempt at file work on the spine and I'm pretty happy with it. It has a flat, right-handed chisel grind, and the back side is slightly convex but bevel-less. I have a little more hand sanding to do on the blade and then it's time for glue-up.

I've really enjoyed this thread, guys. Here's a few recent shots from my shop.

I had a small piece of .340" 1075 left over from a khukuri, and who doesn't love a fat kiridashi? This one has a tapered tang, is double hollow ground, and will be getting stabilized amboyna burl scales.

And everyone's favorite, test cutting. This one was ground on one of Nathan's 36" radius platens.
