Fish and game (Kiwi version of a bird and trout) going out the door.

RWL-34 @ 60-61, G10 and swamp (bog) Kauri scales with micarta liners
Wood is a lovely, rich deep colour and has a really nice reclaimed/vintage character to it.

Still feels a bit surreal people are paying me for my knives. Kind of want to keep this one as my personal hunting knife. Loving the rwl 34, been using and abusing a test knife for quite a while and has stood up to its tasks very well.

I’ve purchased so many different stamps to make this texture, but I always go back to the original one I first made it with, which was a rock I picked up off the ground on a camping trip about ten years ago and used on a sheath I was making.

Thank you, knew it would be something different. If you don't mind, would love to try it out. It just has that old school worn look, just perfectly done. The knife is just as beautiful (the hamon, looks san mai? perfect) but currently looking at leather sheaths.

Do it, and if you find a better way let me know. 👍
The blade is a stainless san mai 410/80crv2 with some stabilized Koa scales.

Making myself a new hunter. Its RWL-34 at 64 hrc. Big wheel hollow and blue Scotchbrite finish after P240 grit. Now to pick a handle. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends up with Suretouch, that stuff is just the best for this application IMHO

Have you run rwl at that hardness in the field before? Be Interested to know how that goes like on a big game animal and if it is too chippy around bone.

Been making my rwl field knives @ 61 ish which I have been very happy with but nice to go a little harder if possible

I have one user knife that's has performed very well at 63 Hrc at the same edge thickness, well maybe a tad thicker. This particular one has a different HT protocol, with a higher austenizing temp, cryo and double temper at a slightly higher temp.
It's bit of an experiment/test, I realise the Hrc is a bit higher than what you usually see for this application

Excited for how this one is turning out. It's pretty far out there in design for me, and I'm really enjoying trying something so different. This is also my first instant coffee etch, which was fun. The blade is Aldo's 410ss/52100 barstock.
