  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

I'm always reexamining my shop practices to see how I can do it better. Now that I realize I can put multiple six packs together and hang them up to take less space, it'll be easier to quickly see what I need to top up.

So zero knife making got done today but that's fine since there's no postal truck tomorrow anyway. I'll finish Corey's knife tomorrow along with the other two, and I'll do it in a freshly tidied up and more spacious shop. That always makes for an easier work day.

Whoops I found two more six packs of 150 grit flexible multipurpose belts (ie handle and sheath profile refining belts) that I hadn't yet unpacked. So it's an opportunity to show what I mean.

These:

Turn into this:

And then this plus the ones that were already on the wall:

Turn into...

That:

And that goes back on the wall.

So twenty plus belts take up the same space as six belts did before, leaving me room on the end of the peg for temporary storage of a semi worn belt until it gets tossed.

And now I can easily see the next belts to order will be 120 grit edge core ceramics and 220 grit green ceramics, though neither is urgent.

I also have some cork belts and green rouge coming from Jantz in a bid to further improve my finishes.
