  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

On the last R&D barax I made the handle way too thick and ended up reshaping it a number of times until I liked it enough to call it awesome. I made this one too thin thinking of speed and how the blade stock is a little thicker so I wanted to cut weight wherever I could. But the texture at this thinness was maybe too much. I don’t like it enough. Needs liners.

Here’s another one I’ve been puttering away at off and on for months now. I’ll finish it with the current workload. 8670 with stabilized box elder, black palm, Dymalux inlays, yellow G10 liners and spacer and marbled carbon fiber sub liners.

I added double liners so I could grind a couple layers off the suretouch and redo the texture. Wasn’t happy with the blatant asymmetry I’d put in there. It’s still asymmetrical, of course, because I do everything by hand, but thematically, it is symmetrical.
