What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

I should have sent it back for a lanyard hole with my last customization request 😂

I also like where you put the plunge grind on this one above. This Semi Sumo Jitsu next to my Flippoint still remains one of my favorites, along with my Prevalitio, and the Bittyrang - Midirang - Zoomerang ☺️

Your Flippoint is one of my favorites. Have you posted these in the David’s Handle Treatments thread?

Great idea from one of my other favorites!

I'm all ears ! 🐰

Well Mister Cauliflower, I thought by your post that you already knew. It goes a little something like this: ♪♫

The night that I came up with the idea for Midnighter Fighter I also stumbled upon another neat idea for tanto, from a piece of cardboard that I cut off of the fighter. I just dialed it in now.

Flip Point! Flip Point! You have a pseudo clip point!
I named you that because of that and reasons more unknown.

You started your life as a Tanto,
About two hours out of Toronto,

But soon a far new home

Yes. oldmanwilly oldmanwilly I know you have basically the first Flip Point, and it's a tank. Super tough knife, and pretty heavy. Great slicer though. DocJekl DocJekl 's knife was my experiment to see what I could do with the blank to bring the overall profile footprint down slimmer into a more compact package. And this new one is meant to be full sized Flip Point with adjusted handle ergos to accommodate for the fact that the handle does not have texture like DocJekl's or Suretouch like yours, so a deeper forefinger groove, and coke bottle shaped handle scales. While full sized, this one will be possibly a bit lighter than yours and DocJekl's because the mango wood is significantly lighter than G10 and Suretouch.

The aggressive skeletonization I put on the first tun of Tanto of Opportunity blanks sorta tied my hands on just how much I can customize the handle profile, but in the end it has not been a problem. The only request I can't really accommodate on it is to add a guard, which ultimately goes against part of the use philosophy of this knife, which is to be able to get the hand as far up the handle as possible toward the cutting edge for maximum leverage during a cut. User safety is still accomplished by the means aforementioned, namely Suretouch, or texture, or like on this new one, finger groove with a pseudo subhilt and coke bottle scales. It's definitely a knife that requires some attention in use, but is by no means beyond the considered abilities of the fine and experiences knife users that have managed to find my humble offerings.

And speaking of Tanto of Opportunity. It wasn't even necessarily going to become a reality, but this gentleman saw the cardboard cutout I posted and told me he had to have one. The rest is history. So here is the granddaddy of all Tantos of Opportunity and Flip Points:

Tanto Of Opportunity - landed today!

This knife is Awesome!!!

I have a new favorite knife from David 😍 This happens every time a David Mary knife lands 😁

THANK YOU AGAIN, DAVID

Though we did have a sudden burst of rain and wind with a power flicker. Thankfully it’s still on. I literally just got to the shop. Chad of Good knife co was going to put handles on these himself but he got very busy and so they are back in the shop and I’m caught up on deposits so I can start on them now. Sadly one has developed a few rust spots but I should be able to fix that.
