Probably clueless question, but are you doing the file work after or before heat treat?
I was wondering the same thing initially. The file work was an afterthought on my behalf. I figured it unlikely to happen since the blade had been heat treated. But...clearly, I was pleasantly surprised!

I've never done file work, but if I were to...I'm pretty sure I'd prefer sumpthing soft and carbon...
