What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

When I first started in Corrections, I was excited. I showed up with a handful of red ink pens, a Dictionary and a Thesaurus. imagine my surprise when those items were replaced with firearms, tasers, pepper spray and handcuffs. I never realized people could take such offense to editing!

My V1 Speed Weasel came with two sheathes. it makes it simple to carry my favorite knife when I can transition from a horizontal belt carry to a neck carry so conveniently. or pocket carry, or whatever. And truth be known, I primarily wanted the brown sheath all along, but I think I neglected to tell David that in my excitement. he was incredibly graceful in adding that last minute addition!

🤣👏

One of my most loved DMC knives is a very early Speed Weasel. It actually has a partial tang and a handle that's just a wee bit larger than the current model. I have the second (current?) version as well, and I like it. However, the earlier one with the slightly larger handle is just a fair bit more comfortable for more extended use, such as fuzz sticking, cleaning fish, general fire side whittling, etc. So...when I asked David about this one, I wanted a knife with similar handle qualities as the first version/prototype that I have such an affinity towards. Sooo...basically a Badger with a slightly fatter handle, the the name "Fat Badger"

If I could draw, I'd love to do a cartoon of a young"husky" little Badger character in his Scout uniform with his DMC knife, ready for adventure.

Prevail XL is not cut yet, and the run will feature it only in 3/16" AEB-L. Estimated time to completion on one is easily 7-9 months.

Prevex is only in 3/16" 3V at this time, and has jimping. Estimated time to completion is 1-3 months.

There are only three Prevex blanks remaining unclaimed, unless you count the one I just made, which I have not decided yet what to do with. The handle on that one is black Grip-Tec™ and extremely comfortable, and the knife is balanced exceptionally well. The grind is a touch more robust than my usual, but still slicey and pointy. All in a no nonsense knife that can do just about anything while being very nimble and light for its size and strength.
