Yeah, just a little red velvet mite. I see those on rocks sometimes. They are supposed to be beneficial in that they eat other insects.

I like the little broken back Seax-sort-of-wharncliff-ish piece; turned out well from here - nice blade and handle lines, and looks like a stout but easy to carry and use blade.
