[the chat log on "Live" chess.com games is pretty short, and it erases previous messages after so many, but the gist up until here was we played one game, I won, and he said I was amazing at chess. David_Mary:Tactics
Andremember that every move should support a plan
Akhil:Playing with u even I'll become a better player like you
David_Mary:Perhaps! I can give advice if you want
Forexample, it looks like you are thinking a lot about attack moves
Butyou have to also consider what the opponent could do to respond tothose attack moves
Whitegoes first and black goes second.... so it is white's job to set thepace of the game
Akhil:Ya ur correct, but I'm little slow at learning..
David_Mary:White needs to think about developing all minor pieces into play, that is, the knights and bishops
Thenmove the queen off the back rank, and castle
Bothplayers whould aim to do this each game
Tryingto attack before that is done leads to messy positions and it is tooeasy to fail at a tactic if you attack without
havingenough pieces involved in the attack
Akhil:So at first, we need to have a formation?
David_Mary:oops I blundered, now is your chance!
Yes.
Akhil:Even though u blundered the game is yours, and ur gonna win
David_Mary:not necessarily
Akhil:I have only one minute ledt
Left*
David_Mary:oooohhh
Akhil:I blundered
David_Mary:It takes a lot of practice to recognize the positions and developpattern recognition
yes,but don't feel bad
evengran masters blunder

WasAkhila good sport?
David_Mary:Do you want to play again?
Akhil:Yes, even magnus carlsen blundered
Yes
David_Mary:Yep!
NewGameDavid_Mary(1056) [1] vs. Akhil(479) [0] (10 min) win +1 / draw -7 / lose -15
David_Mary:Good luck, and have fun!
tryto think about piece development
Seeif you can make your next four moves involve all four minor pieces
knightsand bishops
Ina way where they can coordinate, but not get in each others way
Becauseas white, I will be developing all my pieces in the opening
Andif black doesn't keep up, it will be easy for white to gain anadvantage
Goodmove!
Akhil:Yes ill try my best
David_Mary:Also, knights prefer to be near the center of the board, because theyare more powerful there
Theyare weaker on the sides of the board, because they can move to fewersquares from there
"Aknight on the rim is grim"
Akhil:Ohhh so the knight can move every where
David_Mary:For example your knight on b8 could go to either
a6or c6 or d7
BUT
onlyc6 is a "natural move"
Theother two, while legal, would make developing your other pieces takemore time because the knight would be in the way of
thebishop if you put it on d7
andit would be weak and far from the center if you put it on a6
Akhil:I understand that B8 a6 is places on the chess board but I'm not ableto know which is which
David_Mary:But many new players make moves like that, and it is easy to dominatethem because their pieces don't coordinate
Yesyou can, it is shown on the board
the"files" go up and down
Andthe "ranks" go side to side
Youcan see the numbers and letters on the board
Thereyou go, Nc6, a natural developing move!
Akhil:Yes I can see letters and numbers
David_Mary:So look for the c, that is the C file, up and down
Thenlook for the 6, that is the 6th rank, side to side
Soyour knight is on the 6 rank of the c file, or c6 for short
It'sgood to familiarize yourself with the grid coordinates.
Andpretty easy because you can see them every time you play
Mylast move was Bf3
Akhil:Ya I can see now wow thanks man
David_Mary:Which reads as Bishop F 3
You'revery welcome Akhil
Akhil:U Really great David
David_Mary:Another small tip
Mastersoften caution new players against moving the same piece more thanonce in the opening
Yourknight on e4 is not exactly in real danger
However,by moving it twice, I gain a "tempo" which means I get tomake a move the improves my position for free
Becausenow you still have two pieces developed, while I already had three
NowI can bring a fourth in, and I am two pieces ahead in development
Akhil:So that means I should move every piece once
David_Mary:The minor pieces, yes
It'sbest to get them into the game where they can start to coordinatewith each other
Iwill say though, I have played may people around the 1000 rating whoplay black just like you have so far in this game
Soit's not like you are in a losing position or anything
BUTI am very familiar with this position and know a few ways to exploitbad moves that people often make here
Akhil:How many hours do you play this game, I'm just curious because youknow a lot about chess
David_Mary:I have played something like fifteen thousand games on chess.comsince 2020
Ijust looked at my stats page.... 17,950 games total since I signed up
MagnusCarlsen was a Grand Master after playing only 100 games
SoI am not that smart
Akhil:5 years your playing omg ? , So your a professional
David_Mary:hahaha no
Lotsof people better than me
Akhil:People play but I can see that your game play is unpredictable, urmoves are so strong that im not able process which move sh
David_Mary:Next game, we will turn off the time limit
