Also my R&D barax is moving out so I gave it a handle overhaul as preventative maintenance.

I only have one Barax blank left in stock, in 3/16" AEB-L at 61 HRC. Temptation is to make it mine, with Grip-Tec™, although the olivewood is also calling my name....

Seems like the AI assistant kinda missed the point. It must have gotten dizzy, using all that intellect at once. Shouldn't it know better than to challenge a Texan when sarcasm is on the line?

The Barax is a little lighter now after losing probably only a few grams, but I definitely feel the difference. It is even more whippy. Whippy good. A little looser in the sheath, too, but secure enough to be within tolerance.

When I saw the picture with the hose in it. My 1st and only thought was Kitty Litter Tub clean out.
We have 2 cats, I blame them for that thought

Sadly, lbsmobile passed away some time ago. He discovered my work a couple years ago and was a very generous supporter, even placing five orders after his health had begun to deteriorate.

Once his blades arrived from heat treatment and his turn had come up, I reached out to get his options but by then he had stopped responding.

Fast forward to around spring and I received an email from his son letting me know what had happened, and in the course of the discussion I advised him that his father had placed five orders with deposits and I wanted to make good on the debt.

He declined, saying that his father wouldn’t hold me to it.

I asked him which knives of his fathers he liked most and he showed me some pics and one of them I noticed had a chip.

So I told him if he sent it to me I would repair it and send it back at my expense and. He’s going to get a little surprise in the box with it as well. Here’s before:



Looks like someone may have added a sharpening choil. I asked him about it and he said it doesn’t need one.

I will update once the repair is complete. Won’t be showing the surprise though. Not until he receives it anyway.

Repair complete on this at least two year old knife. It was a joy to have it in hand one last time.
