What's happening in the David Mary Custom shop?

Internet activate!

Bob, I'm glad you like your knife. It was a super fun project to work on for you, and I'm looking forward to trying something bigger whenever you're ready. Maybe it's almost time to get more into swords...

I may actually have a short sword project that I think you would be perfect for! I had planned on doing it myself, but after cutting it out and cleaning up the profile, it looks like it may be too big for me to handle.

Let me know if you would be interested and we'll get talking!

Yesterday I Christened the shop by starting work on a big AEB-L seax for a gentleman who's been patiently waiting his turn on the ROFR list. I ground the bevels and attached the handle. Today will be cleaning up and sheathing, with the goal of sending my first outgoing mail from this town on Monday.

The bevels roughed in (and yes evidence of a test chop already!):

Handle attached and biting a tree despite no sharpened edge yet (Chris, who owns the property advised me this tree was a garbage tree I could test on - he uses his maples for syrup):

And how it looked after some cleanup before I left the shop last night:

looks like I won't be able to get to the post office until monday, so I thought I would ask my fellow David Mary fans for their design input! If David was making this big ole chopper for you (I'm thinking of calling it the Big Foot), what would you change about the profile before he sent it out for heat treat?

And lets go beyond the profile. Lets see what handle material/color you would go with! I'm personally thinking a nice micarta, but I can be talked into almost anything.
