What's Happening to Trust?

Hey.....Sorry if you found my response provocative. Most people don't find me the least bit as such. I merely stated my opinion, which you seem to have the need to call me on. You came back and took a shot at an established and esteemed member, in addition to myself.

You say "no worries", and "not that much at odds", but IMO, you do indeed come off as a somewhat abrasive, confrontational sort, albeit intelligent. Not really sure why this. On the other hand, I'll not lose sleep speculating why.

Have a great week.

Gary , Al & Steve ....you guys are tops in my book . You 3 know what trading is all about as you have traded more knives that most will ever own.

Keep setting the standard for others to follow .

Gary : I always look forward to your quotes and I did like that one...history lesson not needed

;)

As it relates to this forum, I'd send Gary or Al a $1,000 knife without thinking twice about it (and have done so) because I trust them completely. That trust comes, in part, from their lack of sophistry and pedantry. They simply do as they say they will, without recourse to arcane reasoning to justify doing otherwise. Thinly disguised impatience with other's opinions and cites do little to add to the community reserve of trust and its companion, good will. This trust is important to our community, and is an attitude that all would do well to emulate, not rigidly or as an absolutist, but with the confidence in each other that is merited and earned.

Further to jbravo"s comment and he being one with whom I have done a number of deals, I would like to say that neither of us even ask about who ships or pays when Mutual trust is all we need and yet we have never met. I have sent knives to other members of this Forum, again, people I have never met but have seen frequently on forums and since they were short of cash at the time and realy wanted the knife I just asked that they send payment when the could. I trust people until they give me reason to not and will ship on the other parties say so. Nifrand is another person with whom I have dealt and we also have an understanding that once the deal is made we both take care of business in a timely fashion. Never a problem. Trust is the name of the game and your true colours show through rather quickly.

Edit spelling

Gary and Al are primo members of BFC and their opinions, especially as they pertain to trust are right on the money.

I would ship out a $2,000 knife to a member in good standing on this forum because a member in good standing would do the same for me.

This is the epitome of 'mutual trust'

I really appreciate everyone's comments in this thread. I've never seen a thread get so many hits in such a short period of time without being part of a Sebenza flame war and 97% of the responses are constructive and positive. Its a shame that this thread isn't required reading for all new members.

when you are a respected member and have the following as all of the people in this thread so far ( minus 1  ) , people will trust you.

I recently sent a Blackwood Henchman to an individual and told him to look it over and if he likes , send payment , if he didnt like it to just send it back. That is what trust is all about .

** FYI : He ended up liking the Henchman and buying it - Dam him !;) **

Ah well the USN coterie chimes in I see. It is rather funny.

Al when I asked you that question, I was really only interested to hear what your reasoning was for taking the view stated. As it happens, in things you and others 'endorsing' you have said, it's pretty clear you don't hold entirely to the view espoused, in fact. So not much at odds, as I said.

There was no 'calling' intended, although I could understand how it may have seemed that way and I have to accept some responsibility for the direction thereafter, on that basis. Just some, mind you. Your followup was provocative. Your typical experience is irrelevant to that. How 'established and esteemed' someone might be will not alter this particular equation much either - shouldn't at any rate.

Gary and I are amicably resolved I'd think. Wont elaborate further here, other than to say he confirmed the impression I had of him generally. I'd prefer things on the same basis with you also Al, but we'll both have to see I expect. In any event, you have a great week yourself, a well-rested one also.

In passing on 'the rest':

- jbravo what you say there SOUNDS okay, even quite good. But it is highly superficial, insofar as you attempt to relate it to me. In that respect, your logic is tortured to the extent of being perverse, never mind arcane.

- Ira I'm as dry as can be here. I don't doubt you'd be a good man in the trenches, so to speak, but it also seems to me you see the world in as black and white a fashion as I've encountered in quite some time. It's not that way, you see. Must drive you absolutely crazy I'm sure. Careful how you go.

- for the dropkick with the email: hitting the delete button without even opening is the full extent of your impact on me. Worth your while, you think?

Somebody tell me I'm wrong.

What is a Troll?

An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people.

Bwwaahahaha what a little piss stain and wrong as hell but not man/women to admit it just resorts to classic troll tactics. Duh!!

B4U please don't continue this with a carry-on about 'classics' you still, quite evidently, do not understand.

Of course I expect there's going to be a testerone laden element in anything knife related, but even so, the 'one of the guys' bit you USN devotees carry on with does get a bit rich, to be frank.

I think you should get the drift sport. If "Bwwaahahaha", "duh" and the like are the best you can do, you are well and truly out of your league, this time.

Given a fair playing field, see how you go.

Considering that I too am a USN devotee, your continual picking at individuals that are well established and well thought of members of BOTH forums is really starting to be pretty irritating. Your taking umbrage at general comments and starting personal attacks in response is not going to do anything constructive other than reinforce the "troll" stigma that you are rapidly earning.

Thread drift happens, but this one has drifted away from anything relevant to this forum. You're welcome to resume talking about each others' personalities in the Whine & Cheese forum if you want....
