Hi there !

Maybe someone could give me some insight about this:

On late April this year I asked for a knife to be put on list for me to Alsdorf Cutlery... comunication were fine about details and all.. Mike said it will take like 8-10 weeks to be ready.

Later, on mid July, I asked for: "How things are going about this..." and got no response.

I've sent several e-mails, both as a reply to my last mail from him, and also using the site Contact page.. and no response at all.

I also made a comment on the maker profile here in the forums, and no response at all..

Do you know if something is wrong with Alsdorf Customs ?... I mean like overwhelming workload, health problems or going out of business or something ?... Strange thing is he keep posting knives for sale in the Exchange area.

I just want to know if I'll have my knife built ever.

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

I have never known Mike to have a problem, I have both bought off the exchange and placed personal orders that were even new patterns for him, Not one problem. Have you tried calling him?
I have a number if you need it.

Hi, guys

This is my first time doing business with Mike Alsdorf... I don't doubt about his reputation... but I'm wondering why I don't get any responses to my multiples emails. I got this address: accinfo@att.net

Is there any different one I should write to ?... I don't intend to rush him or anything... just want to know how things are going about.

Calling is not that an option for me, because I live outside US... but got an address in TX for have stuff delivered and picked up at.

Thanks for your help.

It sometimes takes a day or two for him to respond but he always does. Mike is as solid as they come. This isn't normal. Hopefully all is well....

I will be glad to call for you, PM me your full name and the knife you ordered, if you want me to check on it for you. He is almost always in at lunch time.

did you use this form?

http://alsdorfcustomcutlery.com/home/contact_us.php

I usually get in touch with him by PM through BF.

Yep, I used that page like 3 or 4 times... and got no answer at all.

I don't know why, but I cannot send him a PM or email from the Forums... maybe is because I'm just a Registered Member.

I will be glad to call for you, PM me your full name and the knife you ordered, if you want me to check on it for you. He is almost always in at lunch time.

Thanks so much for your offer... email sent to you.

Regards.

Hello Rosh,

A week after last e-mail you sent to finalize your order I received a reply from one of your original e-mails that was in spanish and contained a virus that tried to shut down my computer. I don't know if someone got into your e-mail and sent it or what. I am hesitant to communicate with you now because of the risk of another possible virus. If you would like to call me on phone I will be happy to talk to you about.

Respectfully
Mike

Hello

Thank you for answer back... now I finally know what happened... but is quite strange, because I use Gmail via web browser (quite a lot, by the way), and nobody had tell me about a virus coming into his/her computer because of my account.

I guess that was one of those virus that roams around in internet and mask themselves as other people names or email address... because nobody else has access to my computer or my mail account, but me... Also, I don't have a record of any sent email to you from my account since Apr 30 up to July 16 (when I asked you about order status).

I understand what you say... I have another email account with hotmail and try to write you from there if you're ok with that... I honestly don't known what happened, because I've send literally hundreds mails from my gmail account after communication with you... and none had ever told me about any viruses...

Anyway... as I told, phone is a bit difficult to me, because I live in Mexico; so if you're Ok, I can write you form my other account or via this forum (somehow), or using the Contact page in your site and you could answer me to my email regular address.

Thanks for communicate with me... I really, really want to have that knife I request.

Best regards.

I can also say that I have consistently received responses to EVERY email I have sent to Mike. As mentioned, it may take a couple of days, but I have had nothing but good experiences with Mike.

He makes some FINE knives too!

Aside: I get emails from MYSELF sent to me every day from my website email address. (A necessary evil.) Completely SPAM. God only know who else gets them.

And I am posting from my Mac. No virus' onboard.

Glad to see a legitimate answer to this. Best of luck to both of you.

There are numerous viruses that spoof the "From" field. You can confirm that's what happened by looking up the particular virus you got on any of the antivirus websites, but that's so common these days you should assume the one person you couldn't have gotten a virus from is whatever the "From" field says.

Hello Rosh,

I am not questioning your honesty or what you are saying but I did receive e-mail from your address that contained a virus (both my anti-virus softwares alerted me about and corrected before it could enter my computer). I will contact you soon about your order (I did try to contact you via PM but you do not have the PM option I guess)

Yes. it is true that it may take a couple/few days for me to reply to an e-mail if I am out-of-town exhibiting at a show or something however as stated on front page of my website I will reply to all e-mails that I receive as soon as I can.

Thanks to all who posted about me. Also thanks to COOP and Cougar for info about viruses.

I hope that this has cleared things up. If not I would be happy to answer anyones questions or comments. BF and BF Members have been very good to me and I will do what I takes to keep their trust.
I feel as though I am walking around with a little bit of a black eye now however if needed I will earn the confidence back of the forum members if any have questions about my actions.

Respectfully
Mike Alsdorf

I would also like to add that Mike is a great guy. I just saw this thread today, otherwise I would have put in my $.02 earlier. His communication has always been most excellent, and he makes knives in a very timely manner. When he says a knife will be ready in 6-8 weeks, it IS ready in 6-8 weeks.

Mike Alsdorf is as good as they come!

I've been a happy buyer on several occasions and communication has been nothing short of professional and to the point.

I've bought Mike's knives from the maker's for sale section, and by special order. You will not be disappointed!

Hello all you, guys

I would like to apologize if I give to any of you the impression I was complaining about Mike and his work... not at all.

I was just confused because I had got no response and all I wanted was to know what was happening... even I ask if there was any kind of health problem or something like that... fortunately, not.

If somehow unintentionally I hurt Mike's reputation, I sincerely apologize for that... it was not my intention at all. (blame my poor English redaction skills).

Now that I know the cause of the problem, I will take care of it; and keep communicating with Mike and we'll be able to conduct this business to a happy ending for both of us.

Mike: I'm going to write to you using your site contact page only... you can then answer me by sending a new email (not a reply) to my address and I promise not reply to it to you, but use again your site contact page to keep the communication going... what do you think ?

JatMat: Specials thanks to you for all your help and good will to fix this. Really appreciated.

TKC: Actually, I think it was in one of your post in the EDC thread, that I saw an Alsdorf knife for the first time and was interested on get one.

All you BF guys are the best !

Sorry for the late response, I went out of the city for the weekend.

Best regards to all !
