That 841 is a sweet looking knife. It looks like it's slightly larger than a mini-grip? I have a mini-grip that I really like, and I'd love to hear a comparison from someone who's carried both for a while.Same today, minus the Spartan. I switched the Buck 841 out yesterday for a new Spyderco Siren S90V/Carbon Fiber, and decided to go right back to the Buck 841 again today. The Siren scales are a bit rough in the hand and it doesn't slip into the pocket as easily (but it's also intended to be used wet). I'm not needing to carry a heavier knife with it, as I did the other day, since the Buck 841 and Shootout will get the job done with MUCH LESS weight and space (Shootout is CF reinforced polymer).
I carried a Benchmade Mini Griptilian every day for the past 10 years (and added the Shootout to it this year as secondary), but this Buck is quickly replacing many of my front pocket knives. I love how it feels in my hand with the curving grooves, being so smooth and sleek but contoured to stay put. I love it's great fidgety and snappy S45VN flipper blade with a classic Buck silhouette. If they made this same knife with a button lock I'd be even happier.
However, I do think it would be even better if it had Ti liners, for less side to side flex if I'm torquing on the blade. The scales are at least as stiff as some other knives with G-10, and stiffer than some polymer scales I've used. But the knife blade can definitely bend or flex the frame at it's pivot if I am levering up on something. It's not even close to functioning as a light use prybar like my Buck 112, Hinderer XM-18, Chris Reeve knives, or Spartans. But just like the 112 it's also a fraction of the price, and I now carry a 3.5" Bruzek prybar for times when I need one.
Nice choice with the Spyderco! It's a great keychain knife!!
