What's in your small fifth pocket?

I clip my Mini-Grip in the watch pocket. It fits (at an angle) so nicely that I can't tell anything is in there.

Once I discovered cargo pants, I gave up on jeans. Much more comfortable and practical for me. The only thing I ever carried in that 5th pocket was a Vic Classic sometimes.

It would be great if pants makers recognized that every man carries or at least should carry a pocket knife and gave us a pocket just for that. A pocket for a watch seems like it was obsolete two or three generations ago.

believe it or not that little pocket carries my buck alpha dorado or my case yeller Cv med stockman. Fits perfectly and stays put too, At least in my levi's and target brand jeans they do. Boot cut or nothing:D i dont really wear cargo pants even though they are practical, wearing jeans keeps me from packing too much stuff, keep it simple!

Compass or light goes into the "watch" pocket of my jeans.

Am I the only one to carry a compass?

I couldn't decide which style of compass to carry so I got both: chrome with rotating face (the big arrow is north) and brass with rotating arrow.

Everyone should have one of the tiny AAA fenix lights, twisties.

I've actually thought about it, but I want a nice one like you've got.

Who makes good compasses?

I hunted and pecked around for about a year to find these two. And, I bot about every other pocket compass I found anywhere in the world (don't carry the others but would as backups if warranted). Thank you for your kind words.

What I like in a compass is: points north, readable, no liquid filler (hate the inevitable bubbles), cover for the face, small, light, inexpensive (its just a magnetized bit of metal really), not marked or engraved, plain, non-rusting & non-magnetic metal and rounded so its comfortable to carry in a pocket.

oregon-

I think what THG means is, "Where'd ya get those cool compasses, dude?" :)

The terrific pocket compasses are out of Roorkee, India from Sun Survey Systems. They are samples sent ahead of my order. Alot of fun working with these fine folk. They say that they will build anything you send them a picture/photo/drawing of. Ping me if you want more detail or google them up (they have excellent english).

I've had pocket watches since I was a little kid. Broke my first one, a real cheapie, while sledding in the old neighborhood. You know, run with the sled then dive on it downhill. Cracked the lens and dented the case.

Time isn't so important to me nowadays, I use my cell for the time, but I like carrying a compass with the footprint of a pocket watch.

All the best,
