What's Next on your Knife Menu?

I really am wanting a GEC patriot knife scout or barlow from collectorknives.net

Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon.

I really want a GEC 53 in Lava lamp acrylic. Located 3 searching the web (a little help from Moon) but they didn't have the really defined "jigsaw" look that makes me weak lol. They're getting scarce, but the fine specimens that have been showing up on this sub forum has me a bit spoiled:D

Possibly a Queen 4" Stockman in amber bone.
Possibly a Cold Steel Trapper if I can find one.

Queen Cattle King in D2 is what I am considering. I also want to keep something I make, someday I can afford to do that.

I know some people aren't too fond of Canal Street; I've only got one (the fiddleback whittler), but I love it and definitely will order more.

I've got a muskrat, half moon trapper, small stockman, and D2 fixed blade and think they're all really fine knives.

Only thing with Canal Street is that I'd like to see them change the handle shield to something nicer looking.

Since Í've just started collecting traditional slippies:

- still wating for my Swayback from NewGraham
- some kind of Barlow
- some kind of Muskrat
- yellow Peanut
- yellow Sodbuster

After I mailed off my contest prizes, I picked up a GEC barlow from collectors knives. I'll try to post pics when I get it.

Good start there:thumbup:

Need to get any kind of Stockman in there too somehow

Case Large CV Stockman

I'm sure you won't be disappointed there:thumbup:

Only recently got a CASE Large cv Stockman in Amber Bone, I don't know how I got by without one before:eek:

Too bad I can't get a Bonestag one or if CASE would only start making some decent Redbone again, dark I said, dark!

+1 on that. That super-ugly shield is the only reason I still don't own any Canal Streets. That thing is hideous. I can understand wanting to use the same shield for all of your knives, but if you're going to do that, pick something that looks nice, for crying out loud. How hard is it to design a nice shield? I could knock out 50 better designs than what they're using in an afternoon.

Open offer to Canal Street- if you want a new shield design, I'll design a better one for you for free. :D I have a little bit of experience- 8 years of professional experience as a designer, two Masters degrees in fine arts, and an extensive exhibition record.

I agree, it almost looks like an afterthought. They should either redesign the shield or eliminate it.

I've got a GEC-Northfield red barn board bone Scout on the way from CollectorKnives. It showed up on my bank statement and it shows on the websire as SOLD. Now I'm anxiously waiting. This will be my first GEC.

But not your last...

Next for me is the forum barlow. That is going to be incredibly sweet...I wish I could afford others like the canal st. cannitler but I cannot.

I didn't know that GEC made a scout model, very interested in that. After customs from Scott Gossman and J Neilson, and an SNG CC, I need to get back into slipjoints, big time. Starting with that GEC scout!

Well, I have a Queen stockman coming in a trade, I'll be good for a while.

Well, it's not a scout with an awl and can opener but a 3/4 size trapper, the jumbo trapper being the "pioneer". I guess I should have said a #73 or put scout in quotes.

Im awaiting shipment of several Rough Riders right now, patterns I want to see if I can stand to carry or not, and one that is a pattern I love in a size I want, that no other company does... Shall see if I really like the combination before having a custom made like I've been planning to do.

And there is a new GEC handle material and pattern screaming at me that I need it... but its a large knife and I don't carry large, so its staying in radar and not in my cross hairs quite yet... (give it ten minutes! ;) )
