I know I don't get to post over here enough.
Well, it has been a rough year. Lot's of family obligations and illness. Things seem to be on an upwards swing, so I am back in the shop. I have a large throwing knife order to get out the door and then I should be back to my regular orders and a few new projects.

I am heading back out to the shop with my camera and will post what I find in a hour or two. In the meantime, What's on your bench????????????

Well, I'm getting married next Saturday, so I've been working furiously (for a very part time maker like myself) to finish up my groomsmen gift knives. They're pretty much all done, just a bit more final sharpening and finishing to do. I'll post 'em up when I'm done.

After that, I've got several orders that need to get to people before the holidays, so I'll jump on that after we get back from the honeymoon. And after that, family orders, more customer orders, and a gift bowie for one of my former patients.

Around all of that, I'm working 45+ hours a week, I need to make a light box for stencils, start collecting parts for a KMG clone, and get around to making myself a personal carry knife.

I think they should figure out a way to slow the earth's rotation so that there is more time in a day. Or, shorten the work week to 3 days on and 4 days off! :)

Just heat treated all these.

And glued up a bunch of these.

Now I've gotta get off my butt and finish some of these.

OK I'll bite.
Here is a single guard bowie that is almost finished. Working on the sheath now and getting the metal tip fitted onto it. The blade is almost ready to be etched to show the damascus. Its a "takedown" and needs some fine tuning to close a gap or two also.

This is one is a "Baby Swat" knife that Mike and I have been tag teaming on. Our own David from Great Lakes Waterjet cut out 12 of them for us and this is the first one done.

3 1/2 trapper with clip and wharnie. Just came in for a cup of coffee. Next step for me is to grind the blades. The heat treat and fitting of tangs/back springs is completed.

A cable damascus sgian dubh, ready for filework, a bowie-like railroad spike knife getting the bevels finished, an old truck spring blacksmith knife, and not shown a drop point hunter already heat treated and almost ready for scales and a tomahawk forged from a railroad spike. I've also got in-the works my xmas exchange knife for a particular someone here on the forums.

I havent finished a knife in far too long, but iv'e got a lot of partialy done knives and forged to shape ones laying around... i'm starting to feel like Sam now that i've got so many not-completed blades!

Dang Bobby! slow down man! You cant keep up that pace or you'll pop a vein in your forehead.:D

A cake knife for my neices wedding, first time trying inlays, pinkwood, bone, mokume, haven't started the server yet.

Dirt, sawdust, old paper towels, paper cup full of linseed oil, scads of tools that need to be put away, empty cigarette pack, more dirt, a hacked up section of 2 x 4, four stag carvers, one failed English walnut handle, scraps of sandpaper, a bunch of 416 bar stock.........oh, and 14 knives that I am trying to finish for the Belgian show and one custom order.:D

I have a 154cm stainless, drop point hunter that is going to be handled with an antelope horn. going to filework an arrow on the spine. the finger guard and pin through the handle will be stainless as well. customer has requested an ankle/ calf sheath. have it roughed out and am working on fitting the guard and horn.
other than that lots of metal and wood and everything dust and mouse traps!

I counted 19 knives in different stages of stonework. I will try to remember to take a picture tomorrow as my main bench has a big window to the front and looks out to some trees with squirrels and blue jays that yell at me several times through the day to toss down handfulls of peanuts. I spoil them........

I see I am not the only one with a bench full. I really need to have a clean up straighten up day. Knife wise there are 4 small D2 drop points and 2 damascus linerlock folders in various stages of completion. I always have a folder going and mess with it a bit while waiting on tempering and epoxy setup on my fixed stuf. Jim

well there's several "in the works" and not many finished at the moment, but this is one of my work benches, more like the final assembly station, and the storage area for in the works pieces, some plane jane and some alittle fancier, but none the same as the other. there's even a folder ive worked on for about 10 months, and will never get to finish for another 10 months.
