What's so hard about a USPS money order?

the post office is difficult, every time I ever go there it seems like the line is about 15 to 20 people long and only 2 people working. I avoid the post office like the plague for this reason. I have just left the post office several times when I had business to take care of for this reason. I hate going to the post office.

USPS MOs are by far the hardest way for me to pay. Any money order is a pain but if I have to go to the PO just to pay the seller, I will often pass on the deal. Unless it is a really good deal, I won't even buy from people who don't accept Paypal. I don't mind paying the Paypal fee but I am not into making a special trip just to get a form of payment. It can take me up to 2-3 hours to get a USPS MO. My time is too valuable for that kind of nonsense. I don't mind paying a few extra bucks but I am not going to spend 2-3 hours anymore on getting MOs.

If the seller won't accept Paypal, they often have one less buyer in the market.

is that shyla stylez in your avatar?

I dont mess with paypal either, guess I need to look into getting it set back up.

when possible I use bank money orders because Iknow someone who works at a bank and she gets them for me for free...So why pay for a postal money order If I cna get a abnk one for free...you know...but sometiems people request a postal money order so they cna cash it quick, in which case I have no problem doing that for them...but for the most part USPS money orders are tyhe easiest way to go...

I think the OP's point is that he asks for a USPS MO up front, but receives bank MOs instead. We have an obligation as buyers that if we agree to the seller's terms (USPS MO), we have to stick to the agreement.

That said, I just avoid sellers that insist on a USPS MO.

I have decided most people are too lazy to sign up for paypal, thats it.

It is a great service. For some people, "time is money" and getting or recieving a money order can be a pain in the butt.

I disagree with paypal's antigun policies, but since nearly all businesses are anti-gun for liability reasons I understand them..

 ...I don't necessarily mind the charges for postal money orders but like a lot of people have mentioned, getting to the post office and getting in the LONG lines can be a big detriment to me. I'm in Florida north of Tampa. Our post office is quite small and it is trying to serve far too many people. The lines can be staggering even when not during peak periods such as holiday seasons. It takes a good 45 minutes to and hour and a half to get to it and seeing the length of the lines you can easily add another hour or better to the total time involved in picking up a money order. Perhaps if it were large enough to accomodate the people using it, as well as possibly being a bit easier to get to, the process would be easier to accomplish...but as it is a postal money order is most difficult to get from this area. There is a aura of trepidation surrounding PayPal and I am somewhat uneasy using it at times...but it's worked so far and the sellers get their money immediately.

I always hope a seller takes paypal as sometimes a MO can be difficult for me to get being a wheelchair user its a real hassle for me to go to my local PO.and loading and unloading my chair 4 times.sometimes I get lucky and one of my family members gets it for me but, usually it just me .
if its a knife I really like I'll take the trouble to get the MO myself.otherwise I usually pass.

I get mine at Wal-Mart as I am there alot, and I have never had any problems with them. They are cheap there also.

Many people are pointing out here how hard it is for them to get a USPS MO. Understandable, I suppose, if it takes you over an hour to get it, or if there are other obstacles.

My point here, however, is that if you can't supply the requested forms of payment, don't make a deal. What ticks me off is someone who says "I'll take it" and then sends a money order from a different institution, even though my sale threads always plainly specify "USPS money order or PayPal."

My Post Office is very user friendly, nerver a line and no problems, ever. I do live in a very rual place though. PayPal is the easiest way for me to receive / send payment but I take MOs of any kind and personal checks also, never had any problems.

If a guy asks for a USPS MO and you want the knife, send him a USPS MO. Or ask if he'll take a different payment before you commit to the deal.

It really doesn't matter how difficult it is to get a Postal money order. If that is the way the seller wants to be paid, then that is how you pay them. It's not up to the buyer to come up with some other method of payment. If it's too hard for you to get to a Post Office, then find another knife to purchase. Whatever payment options are given by the seller, are the only methods of payment that should be used, unless you contact the seller and other arrangements are made.

...Whether I can get to the post office easily or not, THIS is the clincher for me as to my efforts to get there. If a seller has specified USPS money orders as the "accepted payment" that's what it should be. I know full well what a seller wants and if I want what he / she is sellin' then you know I will make that trip to the post office. Sending another form of payment or yelling "I'll Take It ! ! ! " when ya know full well you won't be paying as the seller asked would totally "suck" in my opinion...

What's so hard about a USPS money order?

That was the title of the topic, and I think it has been answered... Postal money orders are a pain for many of us.

But...If the seller specifies that, then that's what I give him/her. Do I pass up buying some things because of it being a pain? Yep.

Guyon, I think you can see why some people will try to slip you another form of money order now. It doesn't make it right, but those USPS MO's just aren't as convenient as you may think for much of the population.

Yo, Anthony.....

I don't like Paypal....that's it. Easy or not easy, screw 'em.

If I know you, a personal check is A-OK, if not, USPS money order please....how hard is that to understand?

As a seller, I have to get my fat ass to the USPS to ship it out, I want sweat-equity.:D

Years of successful deals, no issues, but for one lying bastard with no balls.

Best Regards,

As a seller, I put in just as much time standing in line waiting to insure and mail the Priority box. 15 to 20 people in line seems to be the norm. If the buyer wants my knife, he or she ought to be willing to put in the same time to meet my payment requirements.

I know I've stood in line for half an hour or more to get a USPS MO as a buyer, but those folks who are claiming an hour or more in line need to have a talk with their local postmaster about hiring more employees at peak times. If enought folks complain or write letters...

Anyway, the title of the thread should have been, "Why can't people match the requested form of payment?" For me, that's the real issue here.

you have to go there to ship i dont if i'm not shipping and have no intention of going either.

i complain about the wait every single time i go and ya know what??

they could care less lol,

hey, maybe i will miss a knife or 2 but i can live with that believe me. if its something i just have to get, maybe i will go, but things i just have to have are getting fewer and farther between these days.

Excellent Point

I despise paypal.
Why,
Purchased some gold (back when it was 300 or less). Guy ripped off quite a few folks for around 1 mil. Smelled it early, made the case to them. Their response was not even close to what it should have been and the inaction allowed the crook to take in over 700k after he had been reported.

FBI finally caught up with the guy and he got 60 years. I lost a little under 300.00, but a lot of people lost a lot more.

I have been very fortunate as far as my knife dealings. Never had a problem and many times I mail the knife before I see a payment.
