What's that you're eating?

Still had 3# of the flat of the 11# brisket that I bought awhile ago and decided to make beef stew out of it.

Brisket isn't the best meat for beef stew but it's been braised to death and it's pretty tender now. Cutting the meat into tiny cubes also helped. Cut the carrots/potatoes to match for size.

This is around the 4th bowl of beef stew I've eaten for lunch and dinner from the 3# flat and I've got enough to make at least another 2-3 bowls out of it.

LOL! ;)

A new Jollibee (Filipino) fried chicken chain opened up recently in my town.

Needed some fried chicken for an outing tomorrow so decided to buy some there for the 1st time. They must be really popular because they had all of these lines set up in the parking lot and inside the store to handle the "crowds." Sorry, I didn't take any pics of that.

The cashier (a very cute Filipino "girl" who was "WAY too young for me) told me that they get busy later . . .

But there's was no one there when I dropped by this morning and bought a bucket of 12 pieces (all dark), which they served in 2 buckets of 6 each, that they had on sale for their 25th Anniversary for "only" $25 (which is a lot less than they normally charge).

Their "original" chicken is pretty good. It's very crispy and they included 2 pints of gravy which has already gone runny but there's a fix for that.

The batch I got lacked salt but there were complaint on Yelp of the chicken being too salty. Between the 2, less salt is better because it's easy to add salt but not take it away. I like the flavor of KFC better but this was ok and, depending on the pricing, I'd buy more again.

If the buckets look "short, it's because I already ate 2; 1 from each. ;)

PS: Don't know how they do it but I just discovered that the skin on Jollibee's fried chicken will stay CRISPY overnight in the frig. KFC will not.

That's at least 1 good reason to buy Jollibee's fried chicken again. :)
