Whats the best knife magazine to order?

Blade Forums for me........ lots of Great info, plenty of pics, always have a

chance to learn something new. Lots of friendly folks.....whats not to like.

Save your $$!

So how many of you "save your money" guys go out of your way to buy your knives from Spark. Or do you just save your money on him too?

Magazines and the web are apples and oranges. TK certainly gets my vote for trying the hardest.

Blade is the best bang for the buck for me, more issues for less money. I also get the other two because my girlfriend got me a combo subscription for Christmas.

Shortly after I got into Bladeforums, I dropped all my knife mag subscriptions. :p

My thoughts as well. Also the reviews in the mags are so biased. Have you ever read a bad review about a product in a mag? Or even a bad thought about a product.

I still go to the book store every other month, bum out there for a while and flip through them. Reading the articles I want. The store doesn't mind.

"Or even a bad thought about a product."

So how come the CS Vs Janich Practical Tactical thread went to 255 posts here? Micheal Janich Don't Know Squat! or so Cold Steel states. Was it something he said in a magazine?

Don't know I will have to find that thread and read it. But the knife mags will talk about any junk knife and give it a good review. I have never read a review that mentioned a blade having blade play or didn't hold an edge well etc. etc.

I'll be letting my Blade subscription run out. I'm on 4 or so knife/weapon forums. The amount of input from users/testers surpasses all the knife rags.

I think the best is Knife World hands down. (Yes and I have let the subscriptions to to all the others expire.)

For me, Tactical Knives has more pics than the others, closeups of the knives and in the field during use.Pure knife porn and some.

Blade magazine and Knives Illustrated. The fabulous Les Robertson is a content contributor:thumbup:

And name drops JerzeeDevil frequently so I love him for that and he is the man for RJ Martin knives too!

Yup, all others (to me) are picture books. Knife World will feature a brand, style, etc.. and expound on it with great detail from it's roots through a hundred years if the case. Always has a listing of makers, knife shows and events around the country too. Just a great little newspaper style read.

I will still browse the others while sipping a coffee though as I'm still all about saving that money for knives!

When my TK sub lapsed, I didn't re up. I picked up the recent issue at the newsstand, but that was because I didn't have anything to read at the beach. When Blade goes out, I won't re up. I will re up for Backwoodsman and Knife World.

True, there is seldom any negative comment, which does make one wonder...on the other hand, they usually only are talking about blades that most of us would consider above average.

The CS Vs. Janich seemed awfully heated for what it was. CS did some tests, Janich did a slightly different test. To me, both were interesting and provided valid information depending on what you wanted your "weapon" to do. Nothing I saw seemed so out of bounds to justify the reactions. I'm assuming there is some history between the partys that added to it.
There was some minor comment in the fray about Syderco, which generated quite a bit of reaction....again, I didn't quite understand why the strong reaction.

Knife World is certainly well written. It seems mostly directed toward the traditional/collector, and it that area provides a wealth of information.
Not sure it's quite as interesting for the general enthusiast.

Also, it seems to me a tad pricey for a newsprint publication....or maybe I just like pretty glossy color pics :D.

I keep the Blade subscription, but pick up the odd copy of Knives Illustrated or Tactical Knives from time to time if the issues looks good.
