What's the best looking fixed blade in your opinion?

And perhaps folks should be allowed to enjoy what they enjoy? If you want to be a salesman for the craftsmen on this Board, that's absolutely fine. I'm just not sure this is the thread to do it in.

Post # 7, you showed us a custom by a Bladeforums maker yourself. Why criticize someone else for doing the same ??

You managed to take the discussion completely off-topic with nothing better than a personal attack. Chill out.

Lets get back to the knives!

Did i stop someone from enjoying something??? I think such a response to my post doesn't belong in this thread. I typed, and you quoted, we should all broaden our horizons after posting many images of knives that I find unique and very good looking. The OP specifically requested the "best looking fixed blade". I found some of the responses surprising, as if the OP had asked about the "best looking car" and the responses included a number of off-the-lot honda civics or mercury sables. Might some consider those to be "the best looking"? Perhaps. But I suspect that such specimens would take a somewhat lesser standing if the observers were exposed to a greater variety of what is available. Nevertheless, my statement does NOTHING to prevent people enjoying ANYTHING. Why do you care so much about my opinion?? And a General thread asking about the "best looking fixed blade" is imho the perfect place to advertise the work of BF craftsmen! They deserve our support for the work they do in beautifying the knife-world with variety that FAR outstrips what popular production companies are able to offer.

There are many great "looking" fixed blades out there, indeed SO many that it would be a shame for us to not appreciate the work of masters and journeymen and apprentices by taking note of what they create.

Right, but look what Chiral did with his comment. He came in and instead of just posting his favorite fixed blade with a nice explanation, he told everyone that we should broaden our horizons. Then when called on is off topic nose looking down comment he then backs that up with a whole argument about why our production knives suck and customs are better. Our off the lot hondas aren't as good as his car. It is a bunch of argumentative garbage. He took a nice thread and pooped in it with a holier than thou attitude and then wrapped himself in the "you all should be supporting BF makers" flag.

And yes. Back to the knives. A production BRKT no less

After several polite requests from both Esav and myself in various posts and threads, why is this even happening again? If you feel that turning this place into a cesspool of arguments and one upmanship is the way to go, find somewhere else to post. Try taking a break for a week, I for one am sick and tired of the constant negative tone, the unprovoked jabbing, the insults, and childishness behavior. It's time we clean things up, there is an easy way, or a hard way. Decide which one it will be. Id tou don't like the topic, move along unless tou can add something to discussion rather than driving it into the ground.

Ben, I took issue with Choral's assertion that we should "broaden our horizons". I thought I'd been polite, yet clear. It wasn't a personal attack.

Take it email then, no need to piss up a thread. That would have been polite.

The first time I saw the Woodlore in Ray Mears book from 20 something years ago, I fell in love with it. Fast forward to last year, when the stars aligned. A Woodlore came up for sale, and I was able to quickly sell some other knives and buy it. To me it is a beautifully simple, and elegant design, and I actually take it out and enjoy using it.

I don't own any of his knives, but Ryan Weeks makes some gorgeous blades.

KingMC, that certainly is stunning.

I have the Camillus Jerry Fisk OVB Bowie... one in desert ironwood and one in fiddleback maple. The lines, the wood, the everything... it's why I had to buy two of them. Maybe I'll get all of the versions one day. Two of the best looking FBs I've ever owned.
