Most of my folders are larger so I carry them in my back pocket. But I'm going to start carrying some smaller knives for a change so that I can keep them in my front pants pocket.

Right now my favorite front pocket EDC's are the Yojimbo2 and Native5. So 4.5" in closed position is currently the biggest I'll go. I remove the clips from all my knives so that plays a role.

How big a knife do you carry in your front pants pocket ?

Removing the clip is a game changer... larger knives don't carry well loose, IMO - at least not in the pants I usually wear. I've got a couple of knives in the 5.25" range (closed) that I carry regularly; but that's clipped. I'll have to try just dropping one in my pocket... though that would raise the issue of what to put other things

Police4 rides shotgun pretty awesome with 4.5" of blade...

I usually carry my Native 5's clipless, and I think that is about as large as I generally go clipless FWIW. I find deep carry clips somehow give me better access to my pocket. For example, in jeans it's easier to reach around the 0562 than the Umnamzaan, despite it being wider (at least for me). I have a deep carry clip on that Police4 and I seriously think it carries way better and allows for better pocket access. Maybe because it creates a narrower obstacle at the pocket entry point?

The biggest knife I’ve ever carried loose in my front pocket is the Buck 110. It’s not terrible but you will not forget it’s there. I regularly carry 4 layer saks and full sized Trappers loose in my pocket with no issues. The biggest I’ve carried clipped is my Spyderco Military. Clipped is a game changer in a very good way. Sometimes it’s just not a option for me tho.

Folder: GB1, manix 2, rat 1, pm2
Fixed: Bradford G3 in crossdraw sheath or BRK Essential in a KSF pocono pocket sheath with a small traditional or sak pioneer/electrician in the smaller part of the sheath

The absolute largest folder I'll carry as and EDC is about 5 inches closed and light and narrow-ish. Right now I only have one that size, a Protech TR-4 in Cpm D2. Love that knife, but I bought a Protech Rockeye because it is smaller and I carry that much more often. I would love to get the new TR-5, the smaller version of the TR-4. Looks like a great EDC!
The second biggest knife I have is the Calavera Cutlery large El Patron. That carries surprisingly well. Also have a Les Voorhies that is a similar size, also carries well.

I am a pretty big fan of large knives, and above are four of my favorites. Got the 810 Contego, the 275 Adamas reppin' a full primary bevel convex, and the Cold Steel Recon 1 in CTS XHP, my it rest in peace, and the Recon 1 suited up in the new S35VN. All of 'em rotate through the front right pocket

The largest knife that I can comfortably carry loose in my front pocket is a traditional GEC #35 Churchill. For modern folders that are clipped to the front pocket, a Lg Sebenza, PM2, or 3 1/2" Hinderer is my upper limit. I've tried a BM 810 Contego, but found it was too big for my tastes.

Largest knife I've carried in the front pocket was a ZT0220. Clipped though!

I don't know which one wins, but:

Benchmade Adamas
Benchmade Proxy
Microtech Cypher
ZT 0452
ZT 0850

Adamas has the most mass, Cypher is probably the longest.

SOG Spec Elite II is the largest at a 5" blade. I don't remove clips. It wouldn't work for knives of the size I usually carry RFP.

There was a time when I had the right front pocket of my pants cut out such that I could reach the handle of an 8-inch blade dagger strapped to my thigh. It looked amazing when I pulled a full size dagger out of my pocket.
