What's the deal

Hi guys, this is debbie typing for Jerry.

I really like the comments and appreciate them all.
First of all I want to thank Emre for posting the pic on this thread something my wife couldn't do just yet - thanks.
Yes Greg about 3weeks ago I shot a 6x6 Red stag approx 600lbs. 128 yd open sights- neck shot no problems. Yes I made the sheath with the pistol belt also.
Oh yes Ryan- I don't know how to say this but here goes- After Katrina my sister-in-law moved out but left my shed full of stuff, in this stuff I found a claw hammer- the head of it was beat up real bad but left beautiful markings on metal or anything else.
Now being real new and wanting something different I pecked the blade of a knife for the hell of it, now most eveybody that sees it wants their knife with that design.
I have about flatened the hammer out and don't know what I'll do for that design anymore. It looks real neat in person.
This one particular knife I don't like because it is too long- tried to talk him into a shorter blade but no way. Now his brother wants one w/14" blade(2" longer)

Guys I really appreciate everything
your friend
Jerry

P.S. I sure hope I did not miss any questions and I do know about the typing and spelling

jerry...i like the mix of textures in blades...again it's real hard to tell unless it is in your hand....i know some makers that carve up their hammers to forge texture into a blade.....ryan

Honestly I didn't see your thread until this one. Sometimes it is just the timing of it that determines the response. I forgot to mention, the rope filework is well done.

Too long, If im sticking pigs I want a pig sticker, the length is great dont see too many that long on the forum.

I just saw this thread. I usually look at most knife pics. I enjoy seeing what others are doing. I know what your saying. When I first started I posted pics looking for honest feedback. I did get some, but most replies were "good looking knife" and that type reply. I was looking for what you didn't like and how to make it better, or more appealing.
That being said, I like the general design. The style of the knife gives me that wild west feel. I think an etched finish would have gave it a more period look instead of the semi polish. For that look I coat with Ferric-Chloride let dry and use 0000 steel wool dipped in white vinager to polish away the black from the FC.( soak in baking soda and water to nutralize). Also little shorter blade and recasso.
I really like the handle, file work, and pin configuration.
I give this as my opinion only. For me it would make the difference between a knife I would look at and one I would consider buying. Remember" opinions are like a$#holes we all have one and they all stink."

I really like to see forging marks. They give blades real character.

There are a lot of lurkers who don't have accounts. People from all over the world view this sight on a regular basis but never post.

First of all nice knife . I know what you mean too, same thing happened to me a couple times. Plus it depends on where and when you post. I had a thread on a Oosic fighter. Lots of views and comments. The thread was page long. When I finished it. I posted photos in the gallery and got 2 comments. It wasn't the knife or me. It was the time, many had already seen it etc etc. Look at how many views the thread has. Thats how much it gets looked at. Some just never comment, some don't know what to say, some are wishing, LOL Sometimes there are so many great knives people are just dumbfounded by it all. I know it happens to me . Lots of things. Nice folks here. Jim

Hay Sharp--you have the right idea, however this one was sold and nothing I could do.
I have 5 more orders then i can play. HOW ABOUT A 8' BLADE BOWIE WITH DOGWOOD SCALES? I LIKE THE HALF GUARD BEST.NOW WILL THE FERRIC-CHLORIDE WORK ON 0-1 STEEL AND AFTER THE GUARD IS SOLDERED?

I WANT TO THANK ALL YOU GUYS AGAIN FOR THE INTEREST AND KIND WORDS
JERRY

Jerry,
I know the ferric chloride will etch the O1, might want to protect the guard by painting it with finger nail polish or some other "resist" material.

Jerry,
I know what you mean. I hate the modern style Tanto. But have made many for customers. If customers like what you make keep making them. Thats what feeds the bulldog, and keeps the lights on. Just leave time for yourself to make new knives and play a little.
8" with dogwood sounds sweet.

I too, like your knife but don't always comment on peoples knives, just depends on the mood I'm in on whether or not I comment on something.
