whats the logic of having a 100-200$ knife for edc and defense?

It's funny there's a topic about this as I've been thinking on this very subject quite a bit as I shop for knives. It really comes down to compromise in my opinion. At what point can I purchase a knife without any compromises whether it be material, build quality, tolerances, lock type, or whatever else. That point is about $120-$150 in MY PERSONAL opinion. When I look at knives like the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 or the Benchmade 710, they consist of almost the best of everything. So, why then would I spend an additional X amount of money on something else? Sheer desire or collectability. It's really that simple in my opinion.

I use my knives way more than I use my guns.
So I happily spend way more money on way more knives than guns.

Simple as that. :)

Pride of ownership, ease of use, enjoyment from use. Because I want to, same reasons I wear a watch instead of carrying a stick around to make a crude sundial when I want to know the time.

My neighbors car costs 50-60 times more than my old junker but we both got to work yesterday. It all depends on how the end user values it and if they are willing to spend $100+ on a self defense or edc knife.

If so or if not more power to you.

I'm curious what gun you would buy for $300 that you would be willing to bet your life on?
I carry a gun for defense but just because I CAN buy a high point and carry it doesn't mean I will.

Craftsmanship and quality components are worth my money. My knife is a tool that gets used much more that any of my guns.

For that reason I carry a $100 knife.

The OP seems to like to start threads but never returns to them. You guys are talking to yourselves.

I would trust my life to $50 tennis shoes before I would a $300 handgun.

I carry knives in the $100-200 price range because $150-200 is my upper limit for knife purchases. (Hence no Strider/CRK/Microtech for me).
