I'm currently dealing with RHoltrig in a trade.
He is in the Netherlands and has recieved my part of the trade about 2 and 1/2 weeks ago but I'm still waiting for his end.

He shipped the knife off on the 25th of October and it's now the 17th.

Is it definately lost or is this a normal time frame for out of country packages?.
Thanks in advance, I think this deal sour'ed me on any future dealings with out of the country trades.:(

I don't think it's normal but I wouldn't lose hope yet.
I don't think you should let it sour you on dealing out of the country.

The last time I did a trade with someone in the Netherlands it took a full month to ship by land and 2.5 weeks to ship by air. YMMV.

It is getting close to Christmas now, so that may or may not have something to do with it.

Good lock with your trade!

I bought a knife from the Netherlands once and the seller provided me with a tracking number. It worked very well, so maybe you should ask and see if your package is traceable.

I shipped a package via Express mail to the Netherlands last year and it took approx 4 months. It did finally make it though. No idea where it was that entire time, just in limbo

I had a package take over 3 weeks from Spain. But it came into New York the weekend of the attempted/suspected Van Bombing (if you remember that from this past summer). Normally it's been about 2 weeks.

I have waited as long as 3 months for a 1st class package from the US.

Express Mail usually 10-15 days

Priority Mail......21+ days.

I have received literally hundreds of knives from the US........All have made it. (he says while crossing his fingers)

So don't give up hope. But I know that waiting can be a bummer...............:grumpy:

Hope it arrives soon..........Steven

I asked about a tracking number but he didn't get one with it.
He sent it by regular mail.

Thanks guys, I will just have to wait it out:)

I mailed a package from here in WV to a friend in Canada and it took 19 days to get there. We had both lost hope of it ever arriving, then 19 days after shipping it arrived. Don't lose hope yet.

I received 4 or 5 items from Bagheera (Piet Henkens) in the Netherlands and I don't think any of them ever took over two weeks using regular air mail. A couple of the items were Martindale machetes that were not available in the USA back then. Of course that was pre 9/11 and I am sure that today it might be longer than that due to much more scrutiny given to packages. I would not be too concerned until at least 3 to 4 weeks had passed.

Canada to New Zealand and vice versa takes a while. I've had a package take the better part of 3 months to get there.

Anytime international Customs comes into play, the whole deal becomes a crapshoot....I`ve seen it take 2 months for a package to get to it`s destination. Some douchebag in Denmark got both the merch *and* my refund....nothing I could do about it....

The quickest from the US to me - nine days.

The slowest - 3 months. A package from a knifemaker in Canada. He sent it surface mail by mistake.

ALL have arrived sooner or later. With the exception of one, but that was sent via some private postal service and I believe it was stolen before it left the country.

I recently had a package arrive from Israel. It was shipped on October 14th and arrived at my Post Officer on November 3rd.

Pretty tough to gauge International mail but after 30 days I would begin to develop "lost in the mail anxiety syndrome".

The cure however is Jack Daniels...............................

I mailed a couple to a gentleman in Canada from MS and it was the same scenario, only it was 2 months! We were so sure the package was lost for good that I had already started making replacements, but before I finished them, lo and behold, he emails me and whaddya know, they arrived!
