What's the most carried blade among "Operators"?

The folks I participated in various activities with carried SAK's and issued bayonets mostly. Kabars sometimes(heavy). I have a SOG Paratool that I don't think can be killed.

Back in the days of yore just about everybody on the teams carried SAK's and KBARs. If you trashed/lost them, easy to replace. A few guys had Randall 14s and used them (incl yrs truly), but by and large utility was the name of the game. A big knife just got in the way in a cramped hidesite during a 7-day LUP, and it was hard to beat the practicality/carryability of a Leatherman or SAK.

"Days of yore" "leatherman" The leatherman wasn't patented till 1980 if that's "days of yore" then ()&(% I'm old!

Sewer operators typically carry whatever is on sale at Wal-mart. Buck, Case, and occasionally the SAK.

This operator carries a Rat Trap and Rat fixed blade when more uumph is needed. :D

oh cmon guys, we all know that true "operators" use dark ops / extreme ratio knives:D i know a few military spec-war guys and they carry everything from bud-k crap to crkt stuff , most of them dont carry anything thats over 100 dollars for that matter . they love my emersons but tell me im stupid after they find out how much it cost .

most of the "operators", as they're sometimes called, carry:

Gerber Multi Tools.

Not so sexy and not really a blade in my opinion, but that's what they're carrying.

Lots of them carry no other cutting tools. If they do, It's whatever is issued or readily available/cheap.

Russian Spetsnaz forces are issued with Kizlyar knives like the Phoenix model with 16cm blades - a nice knife too.

hi, thanks for the plug:) , but no actualy the russian special military and police groups normaly use state produced knives from izmash and kbp of tula,
they make some good knives but the military lads dont always get them.... the most popular knife with the military is actualy scorpion b which is an engraved hunting knife,
we do make special knives for the military on custom order, the dagger ko is also popular, pheonix and the knife korshun have been sold to both the fsb and the mvd in quite large numbers, but they are not standard,
if you wish i will later post some photographs of issued knives we have made, although many times military guys just come to the factory and buy what they want...

I don't know about Navy SEALs, but I bet arctic seals don't like ulus.
This time of year, seals aren't real big fans of clubs 'round Newfoundland either:eek: :(

I knew a couple guys whom in the JTF and SAR both carried Grohman #3 Boat knives.I don't know what else might have been carried.

I only know one from back in school and the SARTECH is the brother of a family friend. The JTF buddy was a Navy diver first and got in a couple of years back.Funny thing, I haven't seen nor heard from him since about '02...;) . As far as watches go, I know my JTF friend was issued a Tudor watch, made by Rolex. Don't know about SAR watches!

BT operators might get the BT issue knife I guess.
It's a hawk bill folder made in sheffield that has a little bit for stripping wires.

I think the MOD (british version of DOD) had some small knives with a 6inch clip point blade but rather then the normal stacked leather/stag that makers put on them they had a plastic handle.

,a Buck 110(yeah,seriously).
Of course, seriously. It's short, compact, and strong. Fixed blades can be problematic actors during even the best of PLFs. AFSKs were about the longest fixed blades that one tended to carry, and part of that was because of the metal-tipped sheath. One of the few non-PX blades making the rounds of Smoke Bomb Hill in the early 80's was the Tekna divers knife--popular for awhile with jumpmasters because of the one-handed sheath release. Regardless of what was carried on the LBE, everyone had a small pocket knife on their hip--usually a demo knife, Boy Scout knife, or SAK.

I would say if you really want to know, sign on the dotted line and go the 18x-ray option and then take a poll when you're finished.......

I know a former JTF2 guy and he thinks my Gerber EZ OUT is cool and keeps asking me what time it is because he doesn't have a watch.

There is a martial arts guy at my place of work who teaches self defense courses and when he found out I was into knives (no, I'm not an operator, and I don't think he is either) he very generously gave me his Bud-K catalog in order to find a "good knife.".

Not wanting to be offensive, I thanked him profusely. Shocking, but true. :(

Hey guys, i just picked my nickname 'cause all the another cool ones were taken :D ... I own a couple of Spydies & the most "tactical" knife i have is a SERE2000, but that's all... For everyday use I carry a Benchmade Monochrome beside the Victorinox Spirit, but most of the time I use the old good Vic Soldier ;)
