What's the most expensive custom that you actually use?

I just started carrying my DeVillier's Pathfinder.

If you think a Sebenza is a strong frame lock you HAVE to see one of these. This knife would survive a nuclear BOMB!!

Neil, that is one sweet knife! Great pic, too.
Lifter, schweeeeet. Is that a Terzuola TTF or an ATCF? (at first I thought it was a Coleman with that thumb ramp!)
SAS-your collection of knives is as sweet as your collection of fine timepieces!
Rick-that Onion is awesome! Must be something in the Hawaiian air that makes those holes in the titanium!

Mine is the D.C.Munroe Chimera model 3.I work in MRI and with the talonite blade and titanium handle I do'nt have to worry about the knife flying into the magnet.Best knife for the money I ever got.

G2, Steve, Sebenzas aren't cutoms....

Right now the most expensive custom I actually use is my Mike Cooper neck knife, at $50. Give me a little bit for some projects to get finished, and you might see me with a Chew Spitfire SB ($725).

See2, that's a Bob Terzuola ATCF with desert ironwood scales. Bob only puts pocket clips on for tip up which I don't like so I bought one without a clip and Darrell Ralph put one on for me tip down. The way he folded the titanium clip makes it ride very low in pocket making it barely noticeable. I use it everyday at my job at the NY Daily News and it's never even thought of failing me. Edgeholding is unbelievable, a few swipes on fine stones on sharpmaker lasts for months. Lockup is rock solid.
The way I figure it is I've been carrying it approximately 515 days now. Bought for $450 that comes out to .87 cents a day so far. I'm worth it!

Lifter - thanks! I'm gonna have to check his stuff out now. John Hollister turned me on to Tom Anderson's stuff, and now I have YOU to blame for my new financial hardships.

Neil - I've got a Weiland Wasp in the works right now! CF scale, and bead blasted frame. John first told me about him, and I love his stuff. I've got a Phil Boguszewski Cobra being made now, as well. Then it's on to Elishewitz, Lightfoot, Emerson (if I ever hit the lottery... etc.)

*edit* OK, just did a Google search, and I can't find a website for Bob. Does he have one? If not, do you have contact info for him, Lifter?

Which dead horse shall we beat? Sebenzas are/aren't custom, OR what does "custom" status signify. These can and will be discussed till long after the cows come home for the night.

For the record, I will note that the Gold Coin series is arguably the rarest Sebenza in regular production. Total production is 20 per year, unique design every year. There are those who may consider this deserving of "custom" status, there are those who will not. I personally do not put a lot of emphasis on the "is it custom" question, just buy the knives I like, regardless of status.

Hey, I like Larry Chew myself...

You can argue all day if you want to about whether the Sebenza is custom or not but Chris Reeve doesn't. Since they won the "Best Production Knife Award" at last year's Blade show, even he calls them production.
Regardless, they are fine knives so don't flame me for critisizing them, I'm not.

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ..................Just let us know what you use! If you want to debate the CRK/custom thing, just e-mail Les.

I prefer the term Highest Quality over Highest Price.

I have a couple others that will be users as soon as I have time to get G2 sheaths for them.

The sheath is showing a few scuffs but the knife is not.

OK guys, I apologize for the snippy tone used previously. I like Sebenzas, I also like lots of other knives, the list seems to get longer with time.

Lifter, you're absolutely correct. So are you, Bo. Quality and price do not always move up and down together.

I've been enjoying this thread, and hope it keeps going the way it has been...

Yes it is the Cobra by Phil Boguszewski. It is a daily carry since I got it back from G2, the only bad part of a G2 sheath is that you have to send him the knife. It rides on my belt in the G2 sheath to protect it from keys and coins and such. It is a joy to use.

[This message has been edited by Bo (edited 04-14-2001).]

Bo, I don't see that as a bad part...

That was a very very nice knife, so smooth!

I was reluctant to part with it, but one thing with me is...I don't like having other people's knives any longer than I have to, makes me nervous, but it's nice to see them!

Thanks Bo....

E- Sorry about posting my wood inlay Sebenza, I'll retract that I guess, but it still is one nice folder!

ps
Nice shot of the sheath Bo, glad to see you are USING it, what a lovely knife, can still feel it opening so smoothly, HIGHLY recommend this folder to everyone, might have to save up my pennies I guess!
