KnifeArt Exclusive Chris Reeve Large Sebenza 21 Carbon Fiber with basket weave Damascus... Sadly I just cannot USE IT... It would kill me to mess anything up.

Currently,my most expensive knife is the Microtech Ultratech I just bought for $300..before that it was the Spyderco Autonomy 2 I bought several weeks back...I’ve came along way over the past year in what I’m willing to spend for a knife..this time last year it was really hard for me to spend more than $70 or $80 on a knife..I’ve always loved knives but I’ve become something of a collector over the past year and after experiencing some of these higher end steels,I just can’t get enough..with that being said,It will probably be a good while before I spend over $300..lord knows there are MANY $300+ knives I would LOVE to have but I’m not rich and once you reach $300 you are getting in the price range of some pretty decent guns or atleast a good start towards a good gun..I could get on Armslist and find several Glocks,SIGs,FNs,S&W M&Ps,etc, etc handguns for around $350-$400 any day of the week..$500+ you can find some pretty decent rifles..3 things I could never have enough of are knives, guns and ammo..lol

They probably weren't worth much in 2006, but now I think they're worth a little bit more.
Top is Unique Large regular in BG-42
Middle is CGG "High Circle" also in BG-42
Bottom is Umfaan.

Medford TFF-H I bought from Blade HQ because of the sculpted and anodized pattern it had. It was $800.

Love the knife but would I spend that kind of money again on a folder? Not unless I'm earning 3x of what I am now and I find like, a Stan Willson somehow. Every year prices of these folders go up like they're asking for rent.

The knife itself scratched an itch I had which was a full titanium framelock which is my personal favorite configuration. i just wanted something with huge slabs of Ti but, man did I pay for it. Would you go around beating an $800 knife even if its "how its intended to be used" ?

I think pride of ownership is a real thing, and I think its a formula.

$amount of the knife
_______________ X how often you use it = The value to you

Pride of ownership

I feel like since its almost a safe queen, it takes away what i most enjoy about folders, which is the convenience it offers through use. So, I'm forcing myself to forget about the money and just use the thing as much as possible and what I found is that there are $200 folders that perform better at 1/4 of the cost.

Is the price of ownership & the tolerances/craftsmanship & the materials equal 4x of say my go to Spyderco Military? That'show I look at it.

my most expensive is a SK Blades "The Gentleman" Buck 110 SFO with CPM 154 Drop Point Blade, Nickel Silver Bolsters, and Black G10 covers
It came with a black "Distressed leather" belt sheath.

I would have to guess (unless I took an inventory) but I'd guess that my most expensive knife would be defined by its "alloy."

I bought a new Syderco, and it's the first one I have made from "Maxamet."

Edit: BTW, I now consider this place my "home forum." I like the polite and knowledgeable exchanges, the insights into use and maintenance, and the great close-up pictures. I'm glad I found you!

My most expensive knife is a Randall Model 3. Very nice but not my best knife. I'd say my Dozier Personal is my best fixed blade. I have a Large Inkosi set for delivery tomorrow and I fully expect it to be my best folder and also my most expensive folder. Right now my two best folders are Benchmade Barrage and Benchmade Violi. The Inkosi will be carried and used. The Randall is a user too. Otherwise, what's the point of owning one?

Kershaw Tilt is probably my most expensive knife in terms of "value."

Traded a couple of knives for it. Total cost to me in trade was about $600. Current ask on EB for 2 different ones is $1.2-1.25k. Crazy. Recent sales at $769 and $810. So, I'm still ahead of the game.

Most expensive knife that I paid $ for outright would be the Spyderco Nirvana - $450. Generally sells for between $475-550. Liked it better than the Paysan, which I sold at a profit to fund the purchase. So, actual cost of the Nirvana to me was closer to $250.
