What's the origin/history of the Back Pocket knife?

I sit the knife in my BP with the blade toward my billfold, the blade that is sticking out goes into the fold of my billfold and stays in place. It doesn't move around or fall over and is easy to get to when you need it. By the way, pouches are girly.

Leave it to the Old Dog to sleuth that out. It appears that we have a closet knife purse user here and he is using it and other girly items to try draw our attention away in a most bizaar manner. I made that scan for Elliott and Ford in another thread this summer. My wife wanted to know why I was getting into her tampons. I should have told her I had a bloody nose or something.

That knife purse came with my first Bose knife and I used it for a couple of months. Now it can be used by knifenuts who wake up on the wrong side of the month.

If you were to market that tampon in a slip as a Operator Bullet Plug (tactical is about to replaced by Operator ) you could make a fortune.
Only thing better would be if the slip were made in Coyote brown, or carbon fiber...

No - I think it is from Lord of the Things!!!!

To get back on track, used to carry my Buck 501 next to my wallet in my back pocket. Perfect spot for it. Don't carry a wallet in my back pocket anymore (too much of a pain, literally) and now carry all knives either in the front pocket or in a sheath. This was long before the advent of pocket clips on knives.
