What's the smallest knife you actually like, carry, and use?

This is the smallest knife I own and use.. Opinel No.8 Garden Knife

Ha, ha

You are going to hate me for saying this but.
Other than for food prep I think this little gold colored "box" knife / utility knife is about all most people need for cutting strings, opening packages, sharpening a pencil . . . heck you could even cut the bad end off a garden hose with it before putting on a new connector. (do people still do that or am I one of the last ?). Put a little oil on the hose and or the blade and it would cut right around.

I carry the nice full size dudes like the trapper but is it a must ? Usually not.
I've had it and carried it off and on over the years. Until I got my Spyderco Cricket it was my go to for those tough plastic packages because the blade is so thin and it doesn't cut very deep if you hold it right.

Can't hate ya for speaking the truth. Remember, most of the worlds population get by just fine not carrying any knife at all. It's just that we on this site are obsessed knife nuts, so we use any excuse to carry an excessive number of larger than necessary knives. Just ;like a real car nut will use a Porsche 911 to godown to the grocery store when a Toyota Corolla will do the job just as well if not better. Just not the panache or flair. Lets face it, living in a modern 21st century suburbia, there's little real use for much knife on a daily basis. But what fun is that for dedicated knife nuts?:D

My Vaquero Ultralite. Carried this daily in a crossdraw horizontal sheath for over 3 years now. Shown at the ranch on my partner's "cow" book. Knife is 5.25" overall. It handles everything that needs handling from opening a grain sack or a bale of hay, to cutting a calf, or opening packages of supplies in the shop.

Esee Izula 2 and Victorinox Huntsman. My most used EDC combo. Between the two, I generally have all my uses covered.

Rather than small knives, I like to carry normal sized slippies with small secondary blades. I do like my small slippies too though, but I don't often carry them unless I want to carry light weight.

Victorinox Cavalier. Same length as a Classic keyring model, but a little wider with several more tools. Tweezers & toothpick get used pretty regularly, scissors are used a couple times a week, knife blade used about as often.

Always with me, even if my regular modern EDC is not.

Definitely my most used small knives. I carried the Native at work every day for 3 years, and carry the Tasman at work now. I work in a plant in the deep South so the H-1 comes in handy, and the hawkbill is an extremely effective cutter.

Definitely the Victorinox Classic SD:

I have several of them (one in work bag, one in shaving bag, one in backpack, one or two to throw in a coin pocket, one in the bathroom, etc.) and use them pretty much every day.

+1 to all of this!

Protech Runt tanto for me. Rides in my laptop bag and does most of my minor cutting tasks.

That is one of the coolest knives I've ever seen.👍
It's right up my alley and looks like the perfect lightweight edc fixed blade.

I actually EDC this one. Gov't has a strict 2.5" limit, and I like to feel I have a knife that will handle anything. It's been a great little knife, and gets the job done on a regular basis.

Thanks Hickory n steel. I've been very happy with it since I made it. Heat treat is at 60 RC btw.

These days, one or two of these. Next step up size is my Shuffle. Smallest fixed--CRKT Minimalist, Spyderco ARK or Cold Steel Mini Pendleton.

In the past I've carried a Boker Gnome, AG Russell UPK, Vic Classic, a Wenger Esquire, CRKT RSK Mk5 and Boker Keycom (though this one rarely got used). I have a Vic Rover Emergency blade--like a Classic, but with a wharncliffe blade and a bottle opener/screwdriver instead of scissors--on my keys that has gotten some use. I like small knives. :)

You made it, awesome.
Just like me ( though on a much nicer level ) you made yourself what you consider the perfect edc
Fixed blade👍

Spyderco Bug. It has opened thousands of boxes/envelopes.

I really wish their was a knife shop around me so I could own a spyderco bug ( I don't like to order stuff , as I don't use credit cards or banks )

Am I the only one who wishes that spyderco made a delica the size of the bug ? ( that's basically what it is, but it should be constructed exactly the same with the same materials )
