Whats the Stupidest thing someone has ever done to/with your knife?

A guy once asked to see a new spyderco he knew I was carrying... He proceeds to cut into the edge of his jeans pocket to see if it's sharp. Obviously it is, so he ends up slicing halfway down his pocket and ruining his pants...

"Is it sharp?"

(three seconds later)

"OWWW!!!"

(sucks on thumb)

"Rat ring is RANGEROUS!!!"

Keep your knives sharp. Darwinsim works.

Fishing off a pier in Rockport, TX, friend borrows my chinese gerber for something or other, proceeds to try and stick it in the hand rail of the pier rather than fold it up and give it back or put it in his pocket. He barely sticks it in the wood, and as he lets go of it, it wobbles out of the wood, and right into the water. Not a huge deal in retrospect, but I was maybe 14, and it was my nicest knife at the time.

Oh... where to start...

I had a guy I was camping with open a vein (literally) to see if my RMD was "sharp" (I was NOT there at the time). Came to me a few minutes later for first aid help: "I didn't know it was that sharp!"

I don't lend my knives, guns, or ANYTHING dangerous out to anyone at this point; and I keep them locked up or on me these days, too.

Handed a female my favorite machete back in the day while camping. While I was making a fire, she became curious as to how sharp the blade was. She tested this by placing a 1/4" twig on a BOULDER and chopping it up. Later on, she remarked "It's REALLY sharp! It was cutting through the rock!". I had to reprofile the blade on a bench grinder, then I gave it to a friend.

A co-worked at a grocery store asked if she could borrow my knife (Benchmade 943). I watched as she plunged the blade into plastic shrinkwrap covering cans of soup. She then raked the edge across the can tops causing a horrible "PUPUPUPUPUPU" sound. It took DAYS to sharpen the chips out of the blade.

I don't hand out knives without determining what it will be used for.

I bought a new small sebenza 21, carbon fiber inlay, and showed it to a friend.
I just took it out of the box and wanted to show it off a bit.
I handed it over to him, he then proceeded to open it about a 1/4 of the way with the thumb stud, then snapped it open like he was throwing a 95mph fast ball.
In his defense, he's not a knife guy and I usually have hard use flippers.
He knew he did something wrong by the way my eyes nearly popped out of my head.
No damage done, but it turned my stomach.

Oh sebenza people.... ;) "on time my friend flipped open my strider way too hard!! I was so pissed!" Said no strider owner ever. Why buy a tool you are afraid to use?!

There have been a few times...
When I used to work at a bakery a guy asked to borrow my spyderco tenacious to break down some boxes. After a few minutes I go back to check on him and see right as he breaks through a bunch of bundled up tape strips and lands the edge right on a metal rack. He walks over, hands it to me and says "this thing is sharp dude!" I just stood there and mumbled, "not any more" and walked away. I was really horrified because i had seriously considered taking my prized and beloved s30v blur to work that day.
last weekend i opened a beer with the spine of my bk24. my buddy (almost as much of a knife guy as me) tries it and ends up stabbing the crap out of his forearm. we chalked it up to a brain fart and kept playing darts.

The ONLY people I hand my knives to are fellow BF members who I might meet up with from time to time.

I had a guy at work grub a smoke off me & he wanted to cut the filter in half.So I handed him my BM635 with a THIN Krein regrind.I said "be careful it's sharp".He then placed the cig on his thumb with the knife cutting towards his thumb:rolleyes:.He was asking me for a band aid shortly after.I handed him one ,shaking my head. What a dope.

I have a few knives I use specifically as loaners, good hard working knives that I don't get attached to jut for this reason, a spyderco ambitious, a CRKT razel and a SAK. The razel is really good for that purpose cause there's no point to abuse.

I got them after loaning my DLC coated ZT to someone who removed staples (staple gun staples) from wood.

I a releated note I had my very good friend put a 10mm hole in the star on our Xmas tree 2 years ago. On top of me being pissed about the ND (negligent discharge) IN MY HOUSE I was also somewhat upset cause it was my brand new G29 I hadn't even shot once myself yet, needless to say the only time he's asked to hold another gun of mine was when at the range with the barrel pointed in a safe direction.

We still use that same star!

One time I showed my freshly sharpened skyline to a friend. He flicked it open after several times then asked me if it was sharp. Before I could answer he ran his finger along the blade, deeply slicing his finger. I just sadly looked at him and wiped the blood off of the blade. There's no hope for some people.

Holy crap! Where did the bullet go after going through the star? 10 mm will easily go right through a wall, or two.... I am hoping you live in a rural area.

Nope, very busy urban neighborhood. It got caught in the window frame (the actual stud frame, not the part of the window).

Got lucky because it was so close range and the star was thick enough it expanded the bullet so it was much much larger going into the wall, had it been FMJ I don't doubt it would of continued threw the wall and down the street.

Only me and my wife are aloud to handle loaded weapons in our house and/or loaded mags now, how it happened is Eddie was manipulating the weapon, chambered a round, removed the mag but didnt clear the chamber, aimed at the star and fired even tho the mag was removed. I didn't need to say anything, it scared the shit outta him, I was about 3 feet to the right of the tree when it happened. I didn't go off in him, I just explained what he did wrong and how it happened.

He wanted to buy his own gun and that's why he was holding my new glock, he has yet to buy any firearm because of it.

I guess you should thank your lucky starts :D
