Shocking news!

I reprocessed that picture using special imaging techniques that detect things not visible to the human eye. It turns out that Dark Ops WAS doing a land-office business at Bladeshow!

OK I'll be the 1st to admit I stopped and looked and picked up their knives :P Who could resist the temptation?

I found the folders to be very square and bulky feeling, like holding a 2x4, the blades seemed way out of sync with the handles and were to to small for the size of the handle, poor design and wasted space/materials. Fit and finish was average knife company finish, nothing great. Can't say I liked the knives at all but we sell allot of knives I don't care for but someone else does so that's meaningless, Other than I don't care for them.

The fixed blades were pretty much just like the folders except the didn't fold, at least not intentionally :)

When I went by the booth they were boxing the knives up for display like they had just arrived from the factory (may have) the people working the booth had them laid out on the counter and were standing there looking at me looking at the knives, not one person acknowledged my presence or the fact I was the only person looking at their knives. At least last year the president dude came up and talked to me to explain why he had no knives at the show, guess this year they had knives so no need to speak to anyone?

Obviously you did not look like a serious operator who would be doing any covert deanimations any time soon so why would they bother talking to you? ;)

Dark Ops knives actually seem to be out there for sale. I've seen several web sites selling them. Just plug it into a search engine.

They had to call their flashlight the "Hellfire." Some amusing Ad text from knifecenter:

" Its patent pending striker ring at the bezel is designed to shatter glass in law enforcement interdiction activities. The officer can crack through the driver's window with the same hand holding the light, rather than shoot out the rear window as the car drives off.

"With construction of the world's toughest materials and ftesting [sic] labs in the battle zones of Baghdad and south-central Los Angeles, the HellFire X-11 has the proven reliability required for lethal environments."

Hey I am a highly trained operator and in multi areas of expertise...

I can Operate:
A knife lock
The toilet handle
My zipper
The child proof medicine bottles sometimes.
Quite frequently I can Operate a fork :)

So no excuses for ignoring me a potential customer who might just one day need to covertly deanimate a a chocolate pie while controlling the splatter of pudding!!

hi NGK, the darkops stuff didnt look as good as extrema ratio folders in your opinion, the fit/finish/etc?

have ALMOST been thinking of getting one, really like my ER folder and want a nemisis, cant find a deal on one and have thought the stratofighter looks very similar to the nemisis, but it F&F/etc is crummy i will pass for sure lol.

....Frankly, I'd be too embarrassed to be seen standing in front of their stand....

It was "The Loneliest Place on Earth" this past weekend. Quite funny actually (in a sad way). The disinterest the booth "staff" ( ) showed when anyone approached the counter was truly pathetic. Especially so at an event where the legends of the knife culture treat strangers like old friends.

And I'm not ashamed to say that I did grab a couple of their business cards and product sheets from the counter because they will be collectors' items soon.

Drat! I didn't think of that. There may never be another chance.

Since you own a knife store, you're excused :D . You should have bought one, it would have been a limited edition one of a kind :D :D :D .

Cause they're not making em!

I have to sheepily admit that five years ago (okay, three years ago), I would have thought they were cool looking! :p :D

2 things....
They were there....
They were Crap.

I'd rather have something not so low quality.
It just looked like a poor attempt at making knives. I didnt look at the price. If these were say 25 to 50 dollar knives it would be okay.

That is the truth. I didn't meet one exhibitor who didn't go out of his or her way to be friendly and helpful. Hell I even shook hands with Sal Glessar and Jerry Busse! That's like meeting knife royalty to a knut. I've been fans of their knives since I was a (younger) kid.
