What's this new knife at blade I'm hearing about!?

Can't WAIT To SEE Pics !!!

It's pretty amazing given all the technology out there that the Blade Show started on Friday and now even on Sunday there don't appear to be pics of this knife yet anywhere on the internet.

Yea, i saw it and pointed at it and said " what is that" and she took it out, showed it to me and explained it to me. The lock was strange looking in shape but had a good blue ano color to it. It was basically a stud lock and she said that it wasn't as strong as their framelock and is more of a dress knife. Blade shape was fantastic and super smooth. If you think sebbies are smooth, this one will blow you away. Way smoother then any sebbie ( axis lock smooth). There was another guy that had one at his table and said it was his colaboration with CRK and I heard only 4 existed. On a side note a CRK rep said he is pretty sure Sebenza will not be made much longer

Say what? You mean, someone that works at CRK like Heather or Anne, or someone else?

How did that even come up in a conversation? Did you ask if the Sebenza was going to be discontinued, or did the person volunteer that information?

I heard if from another forum member in the pit. I told him he was full of it. He called the guy over. Didn't get his name, but he was wearing his blade show pass that said crk around his neck. He said he didn't think CR is going to make the sebbie much longer. Doesn't make much sence to me though

Oh, I forgot to add that it has that spring clip that you pinch to open and close to put it in and take out of your pocket. I have seen them on other customs, but never got to actually play with one. Works well

According to the knifecenter blog CRK has won the Manufacturers Award again and have also won the Overall Knife of the Year with the "CRK Ti Lock".

It makes a bit of sense to me. If they are releasing a whole bunch of new models then they will have to either expand their manufacturing facility or discontinue a model to make room for the new ones.

If that's true--and I hope it is not, they better have the Small Umnumzaan and/or some other 3" model(s) ready to go for anyone looking for a small hard use/non-gentleman knife. Otherwise, buyers will have to look places other than CRK because they won't have anything at 3" or less besides the Mnandi.

I kinda doubt it's true, but that's what was said. The sebenza is their bread and butter knife right? The knife that made them a billion dollars. If they "have" to get rid of one it should be the Mnandi.

In the woodsmonkey.com interview that Chris gave a while back he pretty much admitted that if he discontinued the Sebenza that he would go out of business. I can't imagine that much would have changed in the recent months to make him reconsider.

The locking mechanism looks similar to the A.G. Russell One-Hand Knife only the lock is built into the blade instead of the handle. I prefer my sebenza 21

I saw the one in the case that I think they were calling the Ti lock.
I also saw one that looked like a Umnumzaan, they said it was a colab between Reeve and Harsey and only a small number made.Sorry for the fuzzy info but yesterday was an information overload.

I just saw the pics of the knife on youtube and a new thread that was started. I must say I am not initially impressed with the new folder. Too futuristic for me ... Only time will tell. I will spend my money on other sebenzas, mnandi, or umnumzaans.

On a side note, I dont see CRK doing away with the sebenza. They already discontinued the OPR and I am sure that hurt them a little. The Sebenza is their mainstay.....it would be like Ford no longer making the F150 !!! I dont see it happening.

Just got back from Atlanta- got to handle the new Ti-lock and had a chance to chat with Gavin a bit about the design. Very cool looking knife. Such contrast between the simple, classic design of Chris Reeve knife and the "out-of-the-box" almost futuristic designs that come from Gavin Hawk. Didn't think to snap any pics of it, but I'm sure they will start showing up shortly.
As far as discontinuing the Sebenza, can't see that happening.

"The Sebenza is their mainstay.....it would be like Ford no longer making the F150 !!! I dont see it happening."

I would take that one step further and say that it would be like Ford no longer making automobiles! Just saying.

I just received my Mountaineer 1, last ones in production, May 2010. What a beautiful knife, great weight, razor sharp and nice coating. Best of all the sheath looked and felt of high quality. All of this for $205.00 w/ free shipping from knifecenter. I'm a believer.
