What's up with "some" of these knife companies?

Whaddya think?

It's frustrating when you phone, "as well" as email some knife & tool companies with a multi-thousand order, and they don't have the courtesy to phone or email back? So... you phone and email again, and again, and again and still nothing?
Have any of you guys experienced this before? Is it because they are not particularly interested in doing business with Canadians or perhaps the economy is so bad their laying off office staff? What gives, any thoughts? I mean we're talking them losing out on at least a $30k sale.

Boker, Leatherman, check your messages. :)

Have you placed orders like this through these companies before? If so, you would think the VIP treatment would be in order. Either way, I have always frowned on poor customer service. If this was a small order I would say it's up to you in choosing if the product is worth the hassle, but given the business nature of this transaction it's a little different. I guess I would continue till you are able to speak to a representative and get this sorted out. Every body makes mistakes, but I wouldn't stand for repeat behavior of this type. If they can't make good with their customer service, then another manufacturer might be worth the time, money, and effort you are putting into this transaction.

...unless he doesn't sell here, but instead in a B&M shop (or any other venue).

But yeah... that's an awfully large order to ignore. Is there more to this story?

If the subject is not about knives, it does not belong in General. Since this thread is not about knives but about the buying of knives it was moved to the appropriate forum.

It's a sign of what's to come, why would someone give business and repeat business to a site and/or company that treats them like they are not needed? I will never understand, treat a customer or potential customer as if they are your only customer and most of all treat them the way you yourself would want to be treated and handled.

My wife and I shop allot on line and very rarely go in stores anymore. Before I'm going to make a purchase I call or email them and ask some questions and so and see how they respond and how I'm treated. If it's bad then they will not get my business, if it's good and the way it should be then they have a customer for life.

I will and often do pay more for an item knowing that it's from a good company/person and they demonstrate that they want my business and treat me the way they should.

Hey guys, thanks for your responses.

I have a friend (dealer) who asked me to relay for him since he hasn't the time to participate, too busy selling, packaging orders and running the business. Forget VIP treatment here for a sec, someone should be returning at the very least phone calls? It doesn't have to be same day but after a few, when you call back again and still no response well...
The thing of it is he doesn't buy small, if he selects a brand of knife/tool he buys the whole lineup. He has the complete Benchmade, Spyderco, Cold Steel, Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, Sog, Ka-Bar, Surefire, Byrd and each time purchasing is in the thousands of dollars.
Most manufacturers are great. Like everything else though there are always a few, and well, as said in my original post, two of them anyhow need to find a phone and check their emails and messages. :)

could be that the person that handles this for these companies are off. plus running lean leaves things to fall through cracks. i'm guessing that if they can't return a phone call that they would'nt be able to fill the order anyway.

^^ True enough, however Leatherman?? Somethings amiss. :)

edit: Leatherman sent a rep, looks like a new manufacturer added
to the linup. :)
