Hope that this wasn't a private party. I'm in agreement that all opening devices have equal value. Someone is not inherently more competent, safer, or faster with the Spyderco hole. If you devote your time to competency opening with a disc or stud, is there really a difference? One thing I will note about the hole is that to my thinking it weakens the lateral blade integrity. And will all due respect Mr. Glesser, the spyderhole was not the first manual one-handed opening device. There were "one-armed trappers" designed well before the turn of the century that were designed for arm or hand amputees; one or more of the folder's blades were clipped at the end to be snagged on a pants pocket or other surface and opened.
