What's wrong with foliage green?

So many people don't like this color but I gotta say, it's my favorite. In fact, every single Spyderco I want to, or have already bought is in foliage green! When I first heard about the upcoming FG Manix 2 I almost soiled myself. Keep 'em coming Spyderco.

I didn't care much for the foliage green color, but one snuck into my collection, the G10 Endura. I'm getting more used to it, but it's still kinda noxious bland instead of toxic green ;)

It's more an issue that I'd prefer basic black at least as an option.

I think one of the reasons I like it so much is because it has a nice muted(greyish) quality to it which doesn't present such a drastic contrast that black knives usually have on jeans.

It is great on some knives; Millie, Para etc. Not so good on smaller classier knives like the Schemps. It was also put on a lot of models in a short space of time making people a bit tired of it.

I like that colour a lot, actually. My first Spyderco was the C95 Manix in Foliage Green so maybe that has something to do with it. However I must say that my UKPK looks much nicer in black than it would in FG.

What I don't like at all are the blue or translucent variations but of course it's all about personal preference.

I think, there is nothing wrong with foliage green, I just do not like it. Also I agree with Sverre, on some knives like Manix it looks OK, but I absolutely hate it on Rookie and Schempps. I love orange, I love my orange UKPK, my ladybug, it would be great on Dodo, but I do not like it on Milly. IMHO black is most universal color for knife handles, probably any knife will look good with black handle, also it is very practical. All other colors can be nice on some knives and not so nice on others, just my opinion.

We need some pictures in this thread! Most of the picture from the online retailers are in B&W.

In the fifty years I've owned cars, have not owned a single green one. Never owned a green motorcycle either. Just checked my closet, only one shirt I'd describe as predominately green and one green fleece vest, no green pants, no green jackets. Must own a dozen baseball caps and not a single one of them is green. So it's safe to say green is not even close to being my favorite color. As for knives, I own a couple green ones and would consider buying a hi-viz lime green FRN Stretch II if it was available. However, I find both foliage green and Spyderco's textured G-10 unattractive, so the combination of the two is particularly unappealing.

At first I didn't much care for it either. But after buying an Endura user in foliage green, (couldn't pass it up for the price) I'm gettin more used to it. It's not that bad.

yes, we do ;)

and to answer the OP: there is absolutely nothing wrong with FG, but orange is just prettier...:D

now, only if I had an orange Para I to add in the mix...

Nothing's wrong with FG. Anything other than black is great, really, but the FG is a nice subtle shade. Or shades -- I noticed that the FG G-10 on Seki-made knive is a different shade form that on Golden-made ones (Or, at least, the D2 Para).

I'd like to see some g10 in a darker green myself, more like that run of British Racing Green FRN knives they did a little while back

i have a para in FG and i dont mind it at all...not my first choice in colors but its perfectly fine with me...i can see why some people dont like it though...

I think the color itself is fine, I would even venture to say that it is attractive. However, if one was to drop a foliage green knife it would be harder to find than say, an orange handled one.

That's been my main criticism of foliage green and especially digital camo for years. Drop it in the middle of the afternoon and you'll be ok, but god help you if you drop one at dawn or dusk. At least black still gives you a solid outline to look for.

I feel the same way about desert tan, but for some reason I just ordered a RAT Izula in desert tan... But in the areas where I do my camping and hiking, the tan knife won't blend into the ground when I drop it like green or black will.
