What's wrong with the BK7

I just got my first BK7 I haven't gotten around to using it in the field yet but it is a great feeling and well balanced blade. I'm just wondering why it doesn't get much attention anymore. Lots of talk about the 4, 5, 9,16, and 20. But the 7 seems like the stepchild in the Becker family. Why? That being said I love my 4, 5, 9, and 29.:)

It fills a gap between the 2/10 and the 9, but that gap's not really one that needs to be filled.

The BK7 seems to be one of those tweener knives. It does a little bit of everything just ok as opposed to something very good and satisfactory for others. To me it's more of a fighting knife not a bush knife.

The BK7 is one of my favorites. It will do absolutely everything you need a knife to do in the bush. Grip it by the pommel and it will chop great! Cross baton to go through a bigger log? No problem! Carving a tent peg? Easy peezy! Fit on your belt? Absolutely! Fight off a marauder? Hell yes!

tweener tends to refer specifically to the 15, 16, and 17...

the BK7 was in fact designed as an alternate for the "standard KaBar fighting knife"...

the thumb rumps are to military spec (as is on the 9 and 10)

the 2, 4, and 5 are your basic original patterns

11 came along to fill a gap for a necker (then the 13 and 14)

the 6 was well, the 6 :>

then all that new stuff

the rest is filter material ;)

except the 12, that's unique :D

the 8 was an aberration :)

there is no 1, except Neo

Allow me just to say JESSICA! JESSICA! JESSICA!

Now that i have that out of my system... The bk7 is an amazing knife. Now ill just basically restate what everyone else has already said. Its just a jack of all trades master of none. I was given one from the man himself Ethan becker. Its a great blade that I keep in my trunk because of its many functionalities, and its seen a lot of use because of that. Its one of the best trunk/kit knives around, it works for everything in a pinch. However, if it was my choice, I would go bk4 paired with a bk16 all day every day.
