What's wrong with the BK7

I swear by the BK7. I ground a choil in, stripped the finish off & replaced the handles with aftermarket micarta. Then it was time to party. I've batoned with it, hammered with it, hacked weeds, just beat the snot out of it. And it's still my go to.
The ONLY thing i would like to see, mostly o out of curiosity, is a 1/4 thick version.

I think he means his 10 x 77s. Which means I'm gonna have to find Bladite's stash and redistribute his cache. I only have 3 or 4.
I was joking about the Bk10. But if you do find Bladite's stash you could redistribute one of his 77's my way. It will be our secret nobody will know.;)

Wow after reading that thread I'm sold BK7 ordered, found a really low price. A year ago I bought an 11 now I'm up to 5 beckers, that escalated quickly.

There is nothing wrong with the 7 at all. It is a great blade, will do what you need without any issues, and can easily be the only knife you need in your pack. However, that being said, it suffers from some very minimal difficulties. It isn't a 9. It isn't a 16. It isn't an 11 or 14. It fits this weird polarizing range that you either love or hate. And since the knife itself is kinda the jack of all trades but master of none, it doesn't get near the field time as the others. Great knife. Others are just more greaterer.

And I swear by Odin's beard, I will encourage Bladite to ban the next person to call it Jessica. *grumble grumble grumble*

Just received my 7 today and I really like how quick it feels in hand. I cut my finger in the first hour of having it so at least I got that out of the way.

I've been wondering why are most large becker knives a clip point or partially sharpened swedge? And most of the smaller blades a drop point. Is there a reason or just a coincidence?

Here's my guess as to why it is less popular:

It's too small to be a good chopper, but too big to be a good companion to a chopper. Knife people like to carry multiple knives, and the 7 doesn't really fit either category. That being said, I would love to have a 7. I think it would be a great medium size knife that does most things adequately.

I'd have to agree with that assessment. My brother-in-law recently acquired one because he just wanted to be able to take "one knife" when he ventured out, and I think in a "one knife" role, the 7 performs quite admirably, as he was able to attest to. I recently acquired a 7 as well (thanks @Jonny1280), but I haven't had the opportunity to really use it quite yet so I personally do not know if it will fill that same capacity for me.

I think a good many of us just prefer to take a combination of knives to suit different tasks, like CoolBreeze135 CoolBreeze135 said, we are knife people. :D

I hate you guys. I got rid of my 7 because it never got used. Now this thread made me go buy another one. Lucky for me someone posted on the kabar forum this morning that they could be had at a ridiculously low price so I grabbed one before the price went back to normal.

And it's not really a red hot hate. More a love hate. Except for that asshat that shall not be named with a girl named 7. That's a hate hate.

My brand new $41 bk7 arrived. Not sure why they were briefly listed for that price, but sometimes you get lucky. I'm still not in love with the blade profile, but I don't hate it either. I really wish Ethan and kabar would make a drop point this size. That being said, I'm really happy that I'm back in the bk7 owner's club. Great knife.
