What's wrong with the BK7

Well I'm glad that I started this thread. I got to see some beautiful 7 blades, a whole lota love, a little whats the point, but no real haters. Great opinions on both sides of the edge. It's a great keeper and it just so happens to fit in my Maxpedition Sitka perfect.

I luv my 7

Love the 7, it was my first and my gateway to Beckers. Great one tool option. Paired with the 13 there is nothing that cannot be done in the woods.

Which Becker does everything better than BK-7? That's right...

Becker-Ritter collaboration is pretty close though.

I'm thinking a BK9, what can the BK7 do that the BK9 can't? This is why my first big Becker was the 9 and not the 7. The 7 is a big knife so not great at little knife chores, but not as good as the 9 at big knife chores, so 9 it is. And in reality, the 7 is really too big for a defensive fighting knife IMO.

The 7 is not likely to get get the looks from others while hiking out and about as the 9. In fact in the right sheath it's not that noticeable and sharpened right is quite good at most everything .

I escort/sherpa my wife's camera gear when she is on a photo shoot. I was carrying the Bk9 in my maxpedition sitka sling bag and her large lens. But I found it was just a little to long to fit the back zipper compartment, the lens takes up most of the pack. The Bk7 I discovered fits perfect and is easier to deploy if needed. Most places we venture to are outside and usually secluded abandoned buildings. But its better if the blade is not visible. But when she is shooting nature shots the 9 is strapped to the outside of the pack. I think I've found a new friend in the 7 it fits my needs perfectly

The whole 6"-8" range is kind of a no man's land for me...
There are a lot of knives in that range that really apeal to me, but just never see any practical use.
I use folders, neck knives, belt knives(around 4"), and a chopper(9"+).
The 6"-8" knives personally just don't fill a role for me. I've always loved the look and feel of the BK7, but I always grab something else instead...
Maybe I'll grab the 7 and use it exclusively on my next couple of outings and see if it grows on me. I'd really love to love it.
